Q: The description says this is for punching holes in 1/2" tubing, but the tubing in the container kit is 1/4". Will this work to add fittings?

You only need to punch a hole in the 1/2” tubing to attach the 1/4” tubing to it. Use the fittings to attach the 2 tubings together

Q: Will this tool also serve as a hole punch for the insertion tool? Or will I need to purchase one seperately?

You will to buy a hole punch. This tool is just for installing the fittings and it does a great job.

Q: what size is the hole?

The hole is small enough so that a drip watering device or 1/4" fitting fits snug and does not come out.

Q: Can I use this for the flag type emitters, or only the button emitter?

You’ll need to use the HPUN1-1S Hole Punch Tool for all Rain Bird Drip products which aren’t designed to fit into the ET/1PK25S Emitter Installation and Removal Tool. You’ll just punch the hole with the little tool and insert the Drip watering device in two steps instead of one.
