Space Cowboys - Unlock! 8 - Mythic Adventures

Some games were really not well designed and the clues are not so crystal clear... Still it is loads of fun

I love Unlock games. They are easy to play and require about 5 minutes to learn the basics. The games are comprised of almost all cards except for an occasional map. An app is required but it's great...very well done. The puzzles/escapes are all contained in cards or combinations of cards with assistance from the app. I would say the challenges are primarily of moderate difficulty but there are some that can stump you. You need to be observant and think outside the box a bit. The app will also be used as a "tool," and be used in several different, pretty clever ways. Each box (aside from Unlock Short Stories) contain 3 adventures. They are 100% mutually exclusive. You can play them in any order. The games can be re-played because no damage or modification to the cards is required. I have played one which required you fold a map and maybe a card but there was no damage done and is completely replayable. The par score on most of the adventures is 60 minutes. My brother in law and I are pretty good at these type of games and we came in at about that time. We have gotten better at them and our times have improved but I think 60 minutes is a good goal. There are hints that you can use but they give you a time penalty. I think that these are probably best played by 2 or maybe 3 players. You are dealing with cards and having to pass it around to several people can slow the game. I've played 6 different Unlock adventures and this set has 3 good ones. The Sherlock Holmes one is really great. Definitely recommend these. Good thought provoking fun for escape/puzzle fans.

Excellent starter for anyone who wishes to get into the Unlock Games. Insert Coin was so much fun! Sherlock Holmes was awesome. My family of four we were able to figure out without hints. You have to pay attention to detail. In search of the white rabbit - If you know the story of Alice in Wonderland it will be even more fun, but you don't need to know the story to enjoy the game. Loved all three in this package. This was my introduction to the Unlock games and will definitely purchase more.

My husband and I both love playing escape rooms that are thematic, a good mix of digital tech and manual hands-on riddle-solving like we are part of the National Treasure movie or living the Sigma Force series of author James Rollins. Such is Unlock! Unlock! has great art, looking at it, it's like the characters and the settings are jumping right out at you. Because the art of each card is a masterpiece, we opted to buy card sleeves for them. Unlock! Escape Adventures (combo 3 games) This particular unlock combo box contains a game where the group would be split! such a wonderful game to test teamwork. I was hesitant that I will like the cartoonish game but it became my favorite - it made me imagine outrageous things to progress into the game! The scientific game was also a brain teaser, it was wonderful! Unlock! 2 Mystery Adventures (combo 3 games) What can we say! These games changed the mechanics without having to change the mechanics itself! A paradox, I know, but all 3 games were so good they blew our minds. Unlock! 3 Secret Adventures (combo 3 games) Again the cartoonish game was, at first thought, would be for kids, as well as the Wizard of Oz themed-game, but heck, they became my favorites - so witty and creative! This also goes for the cowboy game, genius! Unlock! 4 Exotic Adventures (combo 3 games) Great for upto 4 people to really maximize what these games had to offer - each player can be in other places to gather clues *wink* *wink*. One production issue though, the Aladdin-themed cards had some slightly bad printing - just a few mm off. All the Sheherazade's Last Tale cards were not cut properly. This almost made the game unsolvable because certain card corners have chevrons that must align to solve a certain puzzle. Being not properly cut, the chevrons of the puzzle did not align. Overall, with Unlock! you'll feel like you're watching and immersing into different movies/places without having to leave your home.
