I used to buy my fatwood from Plow and Hearth, but it was getting too expensive, even with a "sale". I saw Amazon carried it, so I thought I'd try it. I will be buying my fatwood through Amazon from now on. Besides a better price, the Amazon fatwood is more like kindling than the P&H, which is much more like little sticks. I make my own fire starters, even though Amazon sells those also. It takes one to light the fatwood, whether homemade or purchased. Fires are easy to make since the Amazon fatwood burns longer.

I actually emailed the Ann Arbor Home and Garden store and asked which brand they sold so I wouldn't be taken again by cheap fatwood. There are others offered here on Amazon. If you want the one that you will go through a box in less than ten months, buy the cheapest one, you will be using up to 10 sticks for one fire! This brand is phenomenal, two sticks crossed at the bottom of the wood kindling and wood stack and light each one, within minutes you will have a long lasting fire that will burn all evening long. So much easier and neater to build your fire in one step! These are one match fire makers! Love these!

I won’t be using these until my camping begins in June. So if they light, not sure yet.However it arrived fast and the wood looks good.I ordered the 50 lb box for the additional discount, and that is heavy. I really think supplier needs to put more tape on box to secure it in shipping. One of the ends had torn tape and if it would have been worse I probably would have received only 35 lbs of the 50lbs. The sticks are just in box loose, no bag.

We have a free-standing wood burning stove in our home and pretty much use it exclusively for heating the house. Before trying Fat Wood we used to use just about everything you could think of to start the fire. Some items worked ok but most would burn out before the wood would catch on fire. I'd have to try 2 or 3 times before the firewood would finally catch fire. My wife could almost never get a fire going so I was delegated to be the one and only designated fire starter. I used to have a good source for seasoned cedar to split into kindling wood and that was my favorite go to for starting the stove. But my source dried up and I haven't had any cedar in a couple of years. I had seen Fat Wood kindling in Wal-Mart a few times but for some reason (stupidity?!) I never bought any. It just seemed too expensive for the amount of kindling wood in the package.Well, I finally picked up some of the Fat Wood and gave it a try. I was amazed at how easily it ignited and how consistently it would start a fire in the wood stove. The stuff ignites so easily that my wife now starts the fires most of the time. I don't think I will ever use any other fire starter products in our stove.And as far as the concerns about costs, I've found that I'm actually saving money with the Fat Wood because I'm using much less of it than the other starters I was using. The stuff that I would have to use 2 or 3 times to start one fire.
