Love the shining buddy. so lightweight and easy to use. Also ADJUSTABLE flips down as little or as much downward as you need.. which I haven’t seen anyone mention yet on the reviews. i bought the black/black and the white/orange. for kids and older grandparents i would highly recommend the white options as its so easy to find the button for easier off/on. the black options are black with a black button so a little harder to find for them. but would still be a great option regardless of what colors you decide. the black is less visible/noticeable on your head. so for anyone who wants it to blend in and be less noticeable i would say the black options. the materials has absolutely NO SMELL at all. nothing like a cheap plastic smell or NOTHING. for the price i was concerned how the quality might be but let me tell you. I am so impressed. the fabric is soft comfortable elastic. nothing on it itches or scratches or feels tight. it comfortable and can expand to many sizes. the color combos are perfect. very cool to use for any occasion for the whole family! its great that it does not use a special battery or that needs to be charged before hand. when the power went out in my home. we grabbed these and popped batteries in and we all had our person lights walking around our dark home. If we would have had to pre charge them (you know how that goes... busy lives tend to forget LOL). grandparents love how lightweight and convenient it is to have around. they go out and water there plants at night but struggled with lighting either having to carry a flashlight in one hand or overhead home roof light not lighting exactly where you watering. these work great.. they give you light where they are looking at. overall just a convenient light for handyman project, dog walking, doing your nails, any outdoor night lighting needs for the whole family! The company is also great and professional to deal with. I HIGHLY recommend THESE SHINING BUDDY to have around your home.

Good one here. Power buttons have strong springs, but they work properly. I use mine for reading in the camp, and I have over six hours on the original batteries on dim setting and they are still illuminating my reading material perfectly. My first use was four solid hours of reading and firewood gathering on low. Second use was two hours of reading, and these are solid hours of "power on", so I have at least six hours on these batteries (the ones that shipped with this unit) and they are still just fine on both low and high.I don't know if the batteries that shipped are standard or alkaline, and I left it at the camp. I'll assume they are standard and that alkaline batteries will give even better service. When I swap batteries, I will make a note and update this comment.The band is wide and of good quality. I have a 7 1/2 hat size, and this unit fits my head when wearing a thick knit cap very comfortably.The lamp assembly is light enough in weight, but with three batteries it is a wee bit bulky, but that bulk is not noticeable or intrusive, especially when wearing a knit cap. But the trade off is long illumination times and excellent light. So I like this unit and would buy another.

UPDATE: After purchasing another one of these in a different color, I realize that there are two different models of headlight although they only indicate that they are different colors. Only one color, the black/black, has two buttons for white and red lights respectively. You can see this if you select each color and look at the switches. For the other three, you MUST turn on white before getting to red, completely ruining the only reason I want red to begin with - to avoid white light so myself and others can maintain adaptation to a dark setting while still being able to see. Very disappointing.After buying at least six of another brand of value-priced headlamps, I decided to try something different. This one had solid reviews, the features I was looking for, and the price was right.It's very bright and has adjustable brightness and strobe features as well as steady and strobe red LED functions. The red is so helpful in camp at night especially with others around.My only hesitation in fully recommending this headlamp is the switch arrangement on the top of the housing. There are two switches (one for white, one for red) but I find them difficult to find and distinguish from each other, especially with gloves on. Perhaps I'll get more used to them with use, but I've never experienced this with other headlamps I've owned and used.

Solid. Bright. Comfortable. Well-designed. Great Value. Yosemite last week almost got us. Me and the wife hiked for 6 hours in the dark from Cloud's Rest to Curry Village. Our old headlamps were only 26 lumens! So upon our retuen, I researched brighter headlamps and found the Shining Buddy headlamps. Got two pairs, and the wife and I tried them out last night in the dark. Wow! Very bright on high setting, and just right on the half-beam. That is the setting we'll use the most. These arre SPOT light, not FLOOD. I opened the battery compartment and was pleased to see a sturdy hinge that will last. The strap is wde and comfortable on the head. I really like the two button design: one to control the white lights, and one button for the red lights. Each button has three clicks. That's it. No need for a manual, or remembering complicated one-button codes. It looks pretty darn waterproof, and rain proof. Seals very tightly. Great headlamp, Great Value. Thank you Shining Buddy! - Dylan
