So this is good to be left outside in the rain? Like it's fairly water proof and/or rain resistant?

I would put a cover over it it doesn't need to be sealed but enough to keep direct rain off of it.

how big a pond is this recommended for? My pond is very small: 20' diameter and 2' depth at max

It wasn't clear if this was for aeration or winterization, but either way, the HP-20 would be enough, and probably the one I would recommend, although you could use the HP-40. I would NOT go any larger than the HP-40. Sincerely, Nate at Practical Garden Ponds 484-356-5351
