Great idea but needs modified to last
Adding storage to you home by raising a bed is a great idea and has been a great benefit to me, However, this product is made of composite plastic and if your bed has casters, as most beds do, the casters apply too much pressure to a small area and breaks through the plastic. Two of these have broken through on me.There is a remedy to fix this weakness but it is not cheap. Go to a hardware store and purchase 4 round washers that are at least 2 inches in diameter but with a small half inch center hole. By placing the washers under the casters the weight will be spread over a greater area and the risers will hold up.I wish these would have broken soon after my purchase, I would have send them back, but as it is the modification redeemed them but at an additional $10 cost.

Broke within a month
DO NOT BUY! These bed risers appeared promising, as I needed to loft my bed higher than the 5-6 inches available with most risers. However, my full bed was lofted for only three weeks before the plastic risers broke! Nobody excessively heavy was sleeping in the bed, nor were any "athletic activities" in bed involved; the plastic just cracked and gave way while we were asleep. I feel cheated, as the product lasted just long enough for me to discard the packing materials and return slip. I would never buy this product again, and will discourage my friends from doing so. I am really disappointed, as when the plastic broke, it crushed several of the things i was storing under my bed. Beware!

Want a hirer bed? These work and they are dirt cheap!
It started with my finding a free storage unit offered on Craigslist.com to fit underneath my twin-size bed. However, I didn't figure the unit would mean I'd need to take 4 paint cans to put underneath the 4 legs, to elevate the bed enough to accommodate the free storage unit.Did I tell anyone that I'd already taken the time to sand and paint with a very high gloss white gloss paint with multiple coats, so that the surface shines and looks most beautiful? Well, I did. Then, at 76, I lugged this thing out of my garage and into the spare bedroom with the twin bed. That's when I found out that I had to find gallon paint cans to elevate the bed high enough to accommodate this free storage unit. Then, I went on a foray to find what I could use to elevate this bed. I went to a local well-known home building store with the initials of HD. The salesman said, "We've never heard of anything like this. All we have are sliders to push the bed around." I told him that I had seen the units in their store before. That person called over another person, who turned his face away from me and speaking to the wind to his south, he said, "We used to, but now you have to go on our website on the Internet to find these risers." Of course, I had to have him face me and repeat the message again, so that I could hear him over the noisy conditions in this store. And, I did check their website. Nope. They didn't have any risers here either. So, I decided to really investigate this issue. I spent an entire evening surfing the Internet striving to find a decently priced riser system. Wow! Did I find some "expensive jewels?" The most expensive ones were hand-made, using Birch, or Alder, or something like that, which had sawed off (but decently sanded) edges, and then covered with a coat or two of Varathane. Screws were used to affix the squares together. Each riser was priced in excess of $100. That so impressed me!Of course I knew I could haul out my skill saw, my table saw, my jig saw, my ... saw, and I could create my own risers; but, I wanted to solve this problem on the cheap. After all, I'd already spent a lot of money on the paint for the "free storage unit" from Craigslist. So I kept surfing. Finally, I fould these risers at amazon.com! They are PERFECT! You have so many options, and I have so many options. For a little more than $20 (and not the $100s of dollars wanted by other manufacturers or the lack of any solutions due to the ignorance of sales folks in a store), I can raise the foot (or the head) of my bed either 4 inches, 6 inches, or I can put the 4" ones on top of the 6" ones and replace the paint cans and have a solid and secure base for the 4 legs to the bed that perfectly accommodates this 9" high free Craigslist underbed storage unit.Because that "Free Below Bed Storage Unit" from Craigslist needed 9", I opted to put the two rubberized units together. Pretty neat. Worked great. Then, even though I am 76, it was a walk in the park to raise a leg, toggle the unit under the leg (remember, the other 3 legs already have a paint can under each leg) and thus, replace the paint cans with these rubberized units.I couldn't be happier. And, my cat, Little Socks, immediately adopted this higher bed as her vantage point from which she can watch the birds outside. What a deal! Glad I got to Amazon.com and found a provider of these risers!

These work perfectly for extra storage and height
Like other reviewers, my bed naturally sits quite low so when I downsized to a smaller apartment and needed more room for storage, this was a problem. I use these at the full 8-inch height and they've been perfect. Reading the other reviews, I was a little worried about stability. However, I've had two adults and a small dog in my bed without problem. I think it helps that the frame of my bed is relatively lightweight, but I've never had a problem. I always feel secure and the bed doesn't shake or wobble. Even better I have plenty of room underneath for boxes. The height works perfectly with a lot of the rolling, under the bed storage bins like these Underbed Storage Box - Set of 2 (CLR/WHT/PP) (9.0"H x 17.75"W x 24.5"D) , which I use. I will say that ordering these I disliked the color and ended up using spray paint meant for plastic in order to make these white like my bed so they would blend in better. I think this was definitely the right decision as they stick out and are a little hard to cover up by a bed skirt depending on your bed design. It worked great and I would highly recommend it as I looked all over and couldn't find a set I wanted in white.

pretty decent for the price
The larger set of the two held up for about 4 years, The smaller set has held up really well! The middle of one of the larger risers popped right out in the middle of the night once, which was very not ok especially since we (my husband and I) had some boxes under our bed. Overall, I would say these are ok if you have a bed frame with a little bit thicker base to the legs or if you add a piece of wood or something to the middle base that the bed sits on for a little bit more support to ensure it doesn't give in. The price of these are really good though for what I've seen elsewhere. My husband and I now use a set of round ones that we love and that have a non-slip cushion in the middle section to prevent them or the bed from slipping. The round ones are also not nearly as easy to stub your toes on!
