I was in need of some fresh ideas for job hunting. The book seems it was written by a real person. "Getting THE Call" helped me in assessing myself and determining how to best market my abilities. I especially liked the bold approach to resume creation which focuses on strengths and abilities, instead of the boring chronological listing of past jobs. The book is full of common sense advice and not corporate speak or trendy jargon.

This book is a must have resource for anyone that finds themselves in a job they are simply trading money for time and are not happy / or for those that lost their job and are wondering 'what do I do now.' I really like how Ed brings a real world - proven approach to bring to mind the need to attack the job market from so many angles (several I have never thought about). I have heard and believe the best time to look for a new job is while you are in your current one - this book is an excellent resource to ensure you are well equipped to change careers or ensure you get employment quickly if you are let go. I firmly believe in Ed's counsel & wisdom of working towards a true career, something that makes you happy / provides well and allows for you to get the most out of life. I have personally utilized several techniques and methods presented in this book with great success. THANK YOU!!

This book is an excellent quick and easy read that is full of tips and what I call "a-ha" items. Ed provides plenty of suggestions and the book is loaded with examples that will make your resume stand out from the crowd and turn the ordinary passive job search into an aggressive attack approach. The other aspect of this book that I found useful was the idea of electing a coach. This coach will keep you accountable for the 19 actions and will be available to "coach" you through the entire process. I would recommend this book to anyone who is currently looking for a new job/career or looking for some fresh ways to stand out. As a relocated internet manager I was struggling to find employment in my new area. I submitted a significant number of resumes and online applications with little to no response. Taking a low paying job I was desperate for help and read Ed's book. I was amazed how well he identified the struggles I was feeling in my job search. Following the 19 suggestions in the book I sent my resume to two job postings I was interested in and received calls for both. One wasn't a good fit, the second I received a written job offer and now negotiating compensation (using the book to a "T"). I read this book when I first became unemployed and used a majority of the suggestions in it. From using the 19 ways of getting the call to what questions to ask during an interview and then how to follow up after an interview. These were all great ideas that I had never thought of. It was an easy read with real life scenarios. Needless to say I received a job not long after reading this book and putting into practice the things I learned. I strongly recommend this book to anyone looking for employment or a career change.

Reading the book is not enough, Action is required, and when appropriately applied, is sure to bring on your desired results. This is a GREAT Book!!! This book provides needed information to support my job search. Each section is packed with insight and direction that I need for each phase of my job hunt. I would recommend this book to anybody that is looking for direction on how to find that perfect job.
