Month-by-Month Phonics for Third Grade Paperback – February 19, 2008

Love all the different types of lessons. Can't believe it even includes Making Words lessons. No need for multiple spelling resources, this is everything I need (and more!) in one package. The kids love the lessons too, super engaging! Perfect for my split, grades 2/3. Love the set up of the word wall. Over a hundred no excuse words. Cheerleader chants and repetition. For the first time, my class is using the word wall actively. Love love love this book!

Get book with lots of ideas for increasing complex word vocab.

This book did not meet my expectations as it was missing the first 32 pages.

I really liked this book, but it is a bit time consuming. If you have a class who needs phonics then you will be very satisfied. It is thorough. She includes many different activities that repeat with the different months and sounds so the kids (and you) will get good at knowing how to do them. I think the word wall was helpful, but I should have made the words bigger. Most of the kids relied on their file folders to really see the words. I could have done even more. It is best when many many of your kids are struggling with phonics.

This is a complete word work program. I will not be using any other resources to teach third grade word work this year. I wish I had found it sooner!
