Great fantasy read!
I just finished reading Blood Oath by Kayla Cunningham, and diving into Daughter of No Worlds by Carissa Broadbent felt like stepping into another rich, immersive fantasy brimming with magic, intrigue, and powerful character dynamics.Broadbent delivers a compelling tale of survival, sacrifice, and slow-burn romance in Daughter of No Worlds. Tisaanah, a resilient heroine with a painful past, flees to the Orders—an elite magical institution—seeking a chance at power and freedom. But to earn her place, she must apprentice under Maxantarius Farlione, a brooding fire wielder with secrets of his own. As tensions rise and war looms, Tisaanah must decide how far she’s willing to go for justice, even if it means wielding death itself.Much like Blood Oath, this novel excels in world-building and emotional depth, drawing readers into a beautifully crafted world where power comes at a price. Tisaanah’s journey is one of resilience and defiance, much like Allyria’s, making it perfect for those who love heroines who refuse to break. The romance is slow-burn and deeply rewarding, with plenty of angst and tension along the way.For fans of Throne of Glass, The Bridge Kingdom, and Blood Oath (Stormbreaker #1), Daughter of No Worlds is a must-read—packed with high stakes, dark magic, and a love story that unfolds with breathtaking intensity.

This was one of my highly anticipated 2024 AND 2025 reads and I’m so glad I FINALLY read it!!
I really love Tisaanah and Max’s characters and how their relationship played out. If you’re a grumpy x sunshine lover this book is 100% for you! The banter between the two of them had me absolutely cracking up.Max is the BIGGEST grumpasaurus rex but inside he’s just a big teddy bear. And Tisaanah is the sassiest and smartest FMC. I LOVE that she uses being a woman to her advantage and plays dumb to outsmart cocky pretentious menThe feminine rage in this book is INCREDIBLE! Tisaanah’s backstory is so tragic but it’s absolutely inspiring how strong she is and how she’s able to overcome so much and still put everyone she loves before herselfI read Ashen Son before picking up this book, and even though it’s not finished I would highly suggest picking it up beforehand because, even for a short novella, it gives some incredible backstory to Max and some of the other characters. (It also made Max’s pain so much more devastating). I’m really sad Carissa has no intentions of finishing it because I REALLLYYY want the rest of the missing puzzle pieces between Ashen Son and Daughter of No WorldsOverall this was a great read. A little slow in the beginning, but once the plot starts unfolding, it’s so easy to get sucked in! Excited for book two because I just KNOW it is about to go DOWNNNN!

This book was so remarkable! I was wholly impressed with this story.
4.5/5 StarsThis book was so remarkable! It drew me right in and wouldn't let me go.I was really impressed with the composition of the story. The premise of the story is very compelling and it really makes a statement to the reader. Broadbent's writing style really spoke to me and had a very smooth arrangement that kept me engrossed in the story. I enjoyed the world-building for the most part but felt that the magic of the world wasn't covered very well. I went back a few times to see if I had missed something crucial to the story but it just seemed to be something that wasn't developed well enough. The story was still enjoyable even with only a vague understanding of the world's magic but I still felt confused on more than one occasion due to the lack of details. The characters were excellent. Both Tisaanah and Maxantarius were fleshed out really well and the reader couldn't help but love them. We dive right into Tisaanah's past right away and it really sets the tone for the story. I loved getting glimpses of Max's past as the story progressed. I admit, some of the side characters really blended together at first in the beginning. Once I got a grasp on things it was easier to distinguish them apart though. There was a surprising character that I am very eager to learn more about in the next book! The romance in this book was a slow-burn one that was so worth it. The way that Tisaanah and Max come together and come to care about each other is so full of feels. I loved the gradual change from Max's outright refusal to train her, to his reluctant help, to their friendship, to more. They shared bits and pieces of themselves with each other and developed a strong bond. I really loved how Max admired Tisaanah for wanting to help the slaves from her homeland. It's hard not to fall for someone that cares so deeply and is so selfless. I also loved how Tisaanah brought Max out of his funk and out of his loneliness. He had been secluding himself for so long and she sort of brought him out of his shell.Overall, I was wholly impressed with this story. There is definitely an awe-inspiring message under the surface. If not for the sparsely developed magic in the story this would certainly have been a five-star read for me. I am eager to read the second book and see what happens to these memorable characters.
