Q: Any problem getting it to hold heavy clothes

On one end of mine I have a really heavy peacoat and a heavy leather jacket, plus a few lighter coats hanging. I would say no.

Q: My closet is more or less 6 feet wide, should i get the 4-6 model or the 5-8 model?

That's the same length as my closet. I bought the 4 to 6 version. It comes with i extra hanging bar and since my configuration is smaller it gave me more room to hang product. I have two sections of side hung tops over two sections of side hung bottoms and a single side hang for longer items (dress and coats, etc.).

Q: I've seen that the wire racks can be cut. Can the hanger rods also be cut down? If so, with what tool?

Certainly, I used an angle grinder (rough cut) because my hack saw blade was shot. Certainly a bandsaw, hacksaw or similar will work fine. Either way I would suggest a wire brush to deburr the sharp edges.
