Works great with some caveats.
Avid fryer here and I wanted to use this for a little while before reviewing it. The Oster I used for years before finally died and is no longer available so I gave this one a try. We use our fryer at least 2-3 times a week for nuggets, fries, and chicken sandwich patties so I've put it through it's paces. +It heats up within a reasonable time for it's wattage so I'm confident the rating is accurate and it's ample enough to maintain it's temperature while frying. +I like the design that when you hang the basket it's well out of the oil at an angle to drip dry. +I've tested the temperature setting with a thermometer and the settings are accurate as well. It just works great as a fryer. Cons: -The fit and finish could be nicer. I know it's cheap but my Oster was the same price and felt more robust and the pieces fit together better. Doesn't effect performance though. Just makes it feel cheap. -The ink used to print the lettering around the knobs absolutely WILL wipe right off the first time hot oil splatters on them. Did no one seriously test this? You'd think that would be the FIRST requirement when choosing the ink. Annoying, but yet again, doesn't effect the performance when I use 375 all the time anyways. -I have to question the wisdom in the plastic shrouding on the lid. It's weird shape makes it difficult to clean, awkward to grab with the weird recessed handle, and just seems to serve no purpose. My Oster simply had a metal lid. It worked fine and was far easier to clean. I don't need you to protect me from getting burned. It's a fryer. I KNOW it's hot. Just put a decent handle on it that sticks out better. -I HATE these knobs. Again, it's a fryer. It's going to get oil on the knobs. Who thought smooth round knobs with some tiny bumps on the top edge were a good idea for knobs guaranteed to get oil on them? Just use some simple blade style knobs that are laughably easier to turn if they get oily at all. These are impossible to turn backwards against the timer to turn off the fryer when I'm done with it. I'm thinking of seeing if I can replace them or use a Dremel to cut some cross hatching in at least the timer knob so it's easier to turn when it gets oil on it. Small complaints that don't effect the actual performance of the fryer, but it seems like these could be fixed at no increased cost and the design just wasn't that well thought out with it's intended use in mind. Ditch the useless shroud on the lid. Change to blade style handles like many stoves use for this exact reason. And find an ink that doesn't wipe right off the product the first time it gets hot oil on it. That would make a decent fryer a great one.

Deep fryer ok
The manual said green light would go out when reached temperature. Green light didn't go out. The deep fryer wouldn't come on unless I set the timer know.

Decent
Did everything it promised to do, but it's a bummer that the temp doesn't get higher. I need 425 to cook beer battered fish properly.
