Installed on 2018 Rav4. My experience.
I installed this on a 2018 Rav4. Here is my experience. The instructions said it should take 20 minutes. In reality, it could have, but this is no fault of the receiver hitch itself. The issue was with the car. Took me at least 2 hours. After removing the plastic cover on the driver side and the bracket, the threads were in perfect condition. However, since the passenger side holes aren't covered, the threads were rusted and the bolts would not start.I ended up having to buy a M12x1.25 taper tap to chase the threads and clean them out. After this, the threads started. The biggest issue with installation is the holes on the passenger side are right above the muffler. I removed it from the isolator right at the muffler and the isolator further up the tail pipe. I then was able to adequately get at the bolts. Use soapy water to remove the isolators.I did this in my garage laying on my back. Have a 2nd person hold up the hitch while you get the bolts started on one side. It took all my strength to get the bolts to 76 ft-lbs while laying under the car.

2011 RAV4 😎👍
Incredibly easy to install! Since the little truck already has so much clearance, you really don’t need to lift it unless you’re a little round in the middle. I put the touch to work immediately towing one of those U-Haul box trailers.Fit ✅. Quality ✅. Value ✅

Nice quality and easy to install
Nice quality and simple to install. The powder coating is nice. All the hardware is included and I did it myself in 20 minutes and it looks great

Company is reading the reviews
Well built. I read the reviews and people said the bolt holes don't align. I have a 2014 Rav 4 and the bolt holes ligned up perfectly. The reviews also complained about shipping, and my hitch showed up in a box with thick foam pads inside. The box actually had handles to carry it. So after reading the reviews and my experience I would say this company has read the reviews and fixed all the complaints. 5 star.

EXCELLENT PRODUCT - POOR PACKAGING
Bought this for my wife's 2011 LIMITED ALL WHEEL DRIVE RAV4. Her model year has the rear door mounted spare tire with hard shell cover, and the rear door opens from the left side and swings out like a normal door. The hitch fit like a charm! Only had to remove two mounting bolts holding a towing point on the drivers side. The remaining three (3) mounting holes on the vehicle frame were protected by a factory installed round plastic sticker covering the bolt holes. We live in Northern California so rust/corrosion was not a factor. All five (5) holes lined up perfectly! I attached the hitch by myself. Entire process took less than a half hour. I used thick towels to protect the hitch while it rested on my garage floor. I lifted the passenger side and was able to start both bolts on that side, then lift the hitch on the drivers side and start all three bolts on that side. I was able to tighten all five (5) bolts and torque them to specified 76 ft/lbs. without removing muffler/exhaust. I did use long socket extensions with swivels to work around muffler/exhaust. The hitch does hang a little lower than I would like, but I knew that going in to this purchase. I do not plan on towing anything, although with the 3.5L V6 it can more than handle towing. We bought the hitch for a two (2) bicycle rack. While a class III hitch is/was not necessary to hold a two(2) bicycle rack, I wanted to remove as much wobble as possible thus felt that a 2" receiver vs 1 1/4" was the way to go. The particular rack we bought ends up with bike tires hanging a little low, (tires dragged on the sidewalk while backing out of our driveway). I just purchased a six (6) inch riser, which fits nicely on this hitch and just clears the rear bumper on the shortest of its three 5/8 holes, making it a very clean looking riser and only added four (4) inches of overall length to the bike rack.Only problem, as others have mentioned, is/was the packaging. Why a company would send an item that weighs close to forty pounds in a large/oversize cardboard box with just a plastic cap covering the receiver end, and folded cardboard paper tossed in the box to protect the two vehicle attachment points is beyond me. As photos show, one end was protruding completely through the cardboard box. Nice powder coat finish was worn away to bare metal. While not a big deal as this portion of the hitch is tucked under the vehicle, it is the principle of the matter that one should not have to purchase spray paint and spend some time doing touch up painting on a new item to prevent rusting. I contacted Amazon Customer Support and was credited for the damage and necessary repair.Expect this product to arrive cosmetically damaged. If you, like me, do not feel that is acceptable, contact Amazon for credit. If when Amazon gets tired of issuing credits, they hopefully will contact/notify the manufacturer and the poor packaging might be corrected.

Great product
Had to remove a tow point using a cheater bar on a ratchet but after that it was smooth sailing. Cleaned the bolt points with wd40 then made sure the bolts went in smoothly and then I had to lay under the hitch and use my legs to hold one side up while I held up and bolted the other side. I bolted the exhaust side first since that had to be maneuvered for the hitch to slide into position. 2 bolts on exhaust side, 3 bolts on other side. Overall, easy self install and functions great.

Questionable Quality and Item Did Not Fit
This item I received had a major manufacturing defect the fitment was way off. When I tried to wrestle it in place the mounting plates were hitting the spare tire compartment and the holes did not line up Sure enough the replacement I ordered from another manufacturer was 7/8 inch wider and fit like a dream. Also the powder coat had flaked off in several locations. Also the item arrived late because the label fell off in transit.
