Q: How do you clean this device? Is it dishwasher friendly?

We recommend that you rinse your Naväge Nose Cleaner after every use and that you thoroughly clean it at least once a week. Here’s how: - Rinse the crushing chamber lid under very hot water for 30 seconds. This will melt away salt crystals, if any. - Rinse the drain and drain pipe by lifting the drain pull and running hot water through it. - Upper and lower tanks, nose pillows, and nasal dock: Detach these from the white mechanical module and thoroughly wash them with antibacterial dishwashing soap, offered by all the major brands and labeled “Antibacterial”. You can also use a solution of half white vinegar and half water. -Wipe the underside of Mechanical Module with a cloth dampened with antibacterial soap or vinegar and water. Do not immerse or run water onto the mechanical module. Please note: Do not place the Naväge Nose Cleaner in a dishwasher. It is not dishwasher safe. Exposing the tanks to dishwasher heat may warp and prevent them from sealing to the center module. Running the Nose Cleaner through a dishwasher voids the warranty and will likely damage the device. Can you clean and disinfect this so that other family members can use this as well?

Great question! The Naväge Nose Cleaner is engineered so the “before-rinse” (clean saline) and the “after-rinse” (waste saline) never touch. This makes the risk of spreading germs from one user to another relatively low.
 
That said, the best practice hygienically is for each user to have his or her own device.
 
However, if you are intent on sharing a Naväge Nose Cleaner withother family members, you can greatly reduce the risk of spreading germs by each user having his or her own Nasal Dock-Nose Pillow Combo.  The combo includes a Nasal Dock in your choice of white or teal, and a pair of Nose Pillows in your choice of standard, small, or extra large.

Can you change the direction of flow between nostrils

Absolutely! The beauty of Naväge is it's so easy to change the direction of flow, either from left-to-right or from right-to-left.  The Nasal Dock rotates freely in both directions. When you rotate the Nasal Dock 180 degrees, the saline will flow in the opposite direction. This can make a significant difference with respect to the ease of flow and speed of an irrigation cycle. The direction that works easiest and fastest for you will depend on your own personal nasal anatomy.

We recommend that for best results you change the direction of flow on a regular basis. Even though most users find that Naväge flows faster in one direction than the other, the best practice is to reverse direction at least once a week.

I have to add an antibiotic liquid, will I be able to do this with the Navage?

Yes!  Additional ingredients can be added, and how that is done is shared below.  But first, please be advised that it all starts with a genuine Naväge SaltPod.  A new SaltPod is needed for each irrigation cycle.
 
If you choose to add ingredients, please proceed as follows:
1.	The Naväge Nose Cleaner and SaltPod capsules are approved by the US FDA for saline nasal irrigation.  Any other medical use would have to be ordered and supervised by a medical doctor.  Discuss your plans with your doctor and obtain his or her recommendation and advice before you begin. 
2.	Combine the ingredients with water (see page 6 of the Owner's Manual for important information about water) before pouring the mixture into the upper tank, and of course, before inserting a SaltPod into the crushing chamber.
3.	Tea tree oil is known to melt plastic, and its use will damage your device and void the manufacturer's warranty.
4.	Undiluted, highly concentrated essential oils are also very likely to damage the Nose Cleaner, and their use will void the warranty.

Again, the Naväge Nose Cleaner requires a new, unused SaltPod in its crushing chamber for each use. Having a correctly formulated nose rinse is the key to a great irrigation experience. Sensitive tissue lines the inside of the nose and exposing it to water that doesn’t have just the right amount of salt can cause painful burning and even injury.
