Maybe 4 star but really happy with this. Polycarbonate (PC) is way to go —- clear, hard, no sips/bumps over time like the old (albeit cheaper) pvc/plastic chair mats I used for years. Only 2 downsides. One is pure rectangle with no nut for under desk. But I really didn’t need in my personal set up as carpet ends and tile starts right at desk — straddling multi-surface hard on any of these products. Second downside is mat can slowly, imperceptibly “slide” over time (left for me because I roll that way most). Only few inches and can’t feel it. Just have to recenter maybe once a week. Still 5 star because I think unavoidable. If had “teeth” that gripped carpet like my old cheap pvc/plastic mats, would not be as clear, hard, smooth and durable — and as kind to my carpet nap? Best I’ve had in 40 years of sitting/living at a desk! (TMI? Got this product bc got new carpet after removing old plastic mat that had crushed old carpet, was stained from carpet, and was ugly mess!).

Like many others, during the COVID lockdown I began working remotely and needed to build a home office. The kids are all grown and moved out on their own now, so we turned our daughter's room into an office/spare bedroom. We redeorated, painted and got new carpeting. I was looking for a carpet protector but didn't want one of those thin plastic carpet protectors with the spikes on the bottom - been there, done that, and it seems like those get discolored, crack easily and don't last long. I saw this one and it looked thick enough. It had overall great reviews and the description said it was more durable than tempered glass and can withstand up to 1200 pounds of pressure. I'm not a small man, but nowhere even remotely close to 1200 pounds! So I bought one, and it was really great! It was crystal clear, the carpet looked great underneath, and my chair rolled on it perfectly. It didn't seem to scuff with my chair rollers and I was very happy with it. One thing I found was it did tend to move around a bit on the carpet - not really noticeably while sitting on it, but over the course of a few hours I would look and it has moved away from the desk a couple inches. I just moved it back in place and it didn't bother me. One day I was sitting down and dropped something on the floor and bent down to pick it up and I heard a sound like something had snapped. I looked around and didn't see anything and didn't think much about it. A bit later I heard it again and that's when I saw a small crack developing in the floor protector. It had been about 6 months since I bought it so I was not able to return it to Amazon. I tried to contact the seller since the product description said it came with a 12 month warranty, but I could not find the contact information for the seller. I called Amazon and they agreed to let me return it after all and I ordered a new one. Same experience - it worked well and everything was fine...again for about 6 months. The floor protector cracked again, and this time it was much more noticeable. I decided just to keep it because the cracks didn't seem to affect the chair rolling on it and I didn't want the hassle of trying to return it again, especially since when I returned the first one I had to pack it in cardboard before the UPS store would send it, since this is solid and doesn't fold up. Well, the cracks over the past couple weeks have gotten worse so I'm going to have to find something else. Overall it seems like most people have had great experiences with this product, and so did I for a while. Too bad it didn't last for as long as I hoped.

This chair mat is exactly as promised. Looks like glass but 1/5 the cost. Comes in one piece and not rolled. Multiple sizes. Perfect solution for my need as have a chair at my desk not on wheels and it was marking up my tile.

This is a terrific Chair Mat. It is flat, thick, and clear plastic. My chair rolls beautifully. It is well worth the cost. It comes as a flat piece; it is not rolled up. I had a little help maneuvering it into the position under my chair.

I've had this 3 years and it looks great after daily use under a wheeled desk chair. A bit of normal wear (very faint etching from wheels in some spots), but no cracks, no dulling, still looks sharp and clear and works like a charm over regular wall-to-wall house carpet. Doesn't have any nubs on one side, just smooth & clear on both sides. Glad I bought it.
