It was exactly like what I wanted just like it is advertised.

I am a slightly more than novice pencil artist. I've drawn a few pieces that sold, but I know my place in the art world, so I suspect there are much higher quality kits out there for much more money, but this kit is awesome for my level. It has everything the beginning to medium-level artist needs for getting your vision onto paper in mostly monochrome. It does has some colored graphite, but I can't say much about that as I don't yet use color in my art.Bottom line: EXTREMELY worth the money for beginning to intermediate artists. (May ever be great for advanced artists, but can only speak to my experience and I'm not there yet.) Would make a lovely gift for the artists in your life.

I decided to take up drawing again for the first time in years only to realize that I didn't even have a pencil in the house. While I could just go buy a pencil, I prefer to start with at least a basic set of tools, so I started looking at the various sets available, balancing quality and price.This is the one I chose--It had the things I knew I needed, and, as it turns out, a few things that I didn't know I needed.Overall, the quality exceeded my expectations. I did have two issues--the plastic that the colored pastels are packed in is thin, so they arrived broken, and one of the pastel pencils kept breaking while I tried to sharpen it. Neither of these issues was enough to justify taking off a star, in my opinion, so it's still five.
