Great lock, easy install!
Great deadbolt lock option for sliding glass door and extra peace of mind! Easy to install! We have a double slider so installed one on each side-installed the doorframe plate differently on each side based on the way the door sat in the frame and ability to still close or not with the lock in place-see pictures. Works great both ways!

Some hiccups but would buy again if needed
After our sliding door’s plastic casing broke that held the door locked, we purchased this. I was really cautious when installing, measuring 20 times, pre-drilling holes, triple checking over and over again to make sure I didn’t hit the glass in the patio door. Overall, installed, and didn’t break the glass (like other reviews commented). The lock plate that’s on the interior part of the door, not the one attached to the sliding glass, was a little short, so we did use the spacer that came with it, still too short, so we added additional spacers to secure it better. We used spacers that you’d use on electrical outlets when you have tile, like backsplash tile in your kitchen. Worked amazing for that small issue and really secured it! Others commented that the lock bars come apart over time from the bottom/top plastic pieces (see red circles). They did after 6 months maybe. You’re able to push them back in by hand or using a pipe wrench worked best for us. After it continued to separate almost monthly, I used clear Gorilla glue in the holes and since then it hasn’t been an issue (6months ago). I know this sounds like a lot, but I’m still VERY happy with it and would still recommend it and buy again if ever needed. After all said and done, I’m SO GLAD we purchase this cause otherwise the only other option was a new door and to spend money replacing a door that was only 7 yrs old! I’d recommend it, I’m a security freak and feel like this lock is more secure than the lock that came with the patio door.

Nice hardware to provide additional security to sliding door.
Easy to install. Insure you check your are not drilling near the glass. Does the job to provide additional security.

Good latch/lock for everyday use.
Okay so I had a pet door I removed from the sliding glass back deck door and had long ago lost the latch keeper in the door frame, so I wanted a daily use normal security door lock. Saw this one and thought it looked like it might be worth a shot. It came in today and it took me something maybe 10 to 15 minutes to install using the most basic household tools and not even looking at instructions. You have a pencil, a cordless drill/screwdriver, you're good to go. Easy enough to line up for smooth latch operation. Once installed it looks fine on the door; blends right in. Here are some things to consider: WHAT IT IS NOT: It is not some kind of high-security foolproof deadbolt system that will keep out a determined crook. After all, it's a glass sliding door to begin with..... WHAT IT IS: It is a nice looking, low profile, easy to install daily latch type door lock with a reasonalbe level of security compared to most other sliding glass door latch systems. Combine this lock with normal door handle latch, a siding door bar and a home alarm system - now you're about as secure as a sliding glass door could be. INSTALL: I used 2.5" deck screws with countersunk heads for the frame bolt keeper instead of the 1.75" machine screws they provided - picture shown - this gave a more flush mount and I was able to get into the frame timbers well enough that it's now a more secure lock. FIT/FINISH: Okay high points here. It does look really good in place compared to a lot of alternatives. Like it could have come with the door that way originally. MATERIALS: This is where I took away the star. Would have been easily 5-star product all-around, if it was all metal construction. The security load bearing elements are metal. The plastic components are not really "load-bearing" BUT they are still plastic components in a lock for a primary daily-use door to inside/outside the home. I get it, it's 2022 and we're all into keeping cost down and metal is more expensive, blah blah blah. I can tell you this speaking for all the home owners of America - I would have happily paid twice as much, for this to have been all metal construction. NOT for security reasons, but for durability, service life longevity, reliability reasons. Ok that said I'm happy with the purchase - and as long as you keep in mind what this is and what it isn't - I'd say I recommend it.

Great security
Bought this for our back slider door. It’s sturdy and works well. We had a little trouble when installing because of the way our door was but we got it figured out. It gives us good peace of mind that our little kids can’t get outside around the pool.

A Little Peace of Mind, but Not Much
This is a fairly effective way to add some additional security to a sliding glass door, but the finished installation isn't what I'd call "beefy". In other words my impression is that it's a little flimsy. Not hard to install, but a little tricky. Once you have the wall piece (the anchor) you need to firmly close the door in order to mark and install the locking part. If you don't do this you will have a gap between the door and frame and it will not close all the way. Installation took approximately 5 minutes. The instructions included ... well they just suck. They do provide three different sizes of anchor along with backing plates to accommodate various situations, and that allows for a firm, tight fit. However the screws that attach the lock to the door are necessarily short, and that doesn't add up to a really solid security solution. I originally bought this because there have been burglaries in the neighborhood where sliding glass doors were defeated by prying up from their tracks. I *think* this lock would help to prevent that, but I wouldn't stake my life on it. All in all it's added security, but just some.
