Q: What does the taurine do

Taurine has many physiological functions in the body, but the reason we have added it here is for its function of conjugating bile acids. Taurine favors the conjugation towards water-soluble bile as opposed to fat-soluble bile which is more toxic as well as stone-forming.

Q: Does anyone have tricks on how to deal with the horrible smell of the supplements? The bottle smells bad just sitting on the counter!

We changed our formula to a form of ox bile salts that is higher in cholic acid than our last one was. Our previous formula was around 45%, give or take. This new source is between 45 and 65%. The advantage of this is that cholic acid is a more water-soluble form than some other fat-soluble ones which are more toxic, relatively speaking. So this is a good thing. Unfortunately it comes with a smell. We are working on a way to reduce or mask the smell, perhaps with different capsules. Until we get it worked out, at least know that you are getting a superior form of bile salts.

Q: is the product kosher ?

Unfortunately, no. We have been unable to find a kosher or halal supplier for bile salts. However, these bile salts are purified and >40% cholic acid which supports the conversion of bile acids to a more water soluble and less toxic form.

Q: Why do you have only 110 mg of bile salts per capsule. Isn’t a 500 mg ox bile supplement better?

What I learned was you want to change up the dose periodically. 500 mg may be too much.
