I had been making a few loaves of sourdough bread, but found using a towel- lined bowl for proofing to be cumbersome and messy. The round banneton worked perfectly to hold the dough while proofing (raising). I sprinkled the liner with flour and worked it in well before using. I didn’t wash the liner first before using, nor after. After rising, the dough released from the floured liner without any sticking, and without getting excess flour all over the kitchen. I really prefer using the liner, but someday I might try it without the liner.Apparently you have to “season” the basket first if you’re going to go without the liner. I’ve read you lightly spray it with water, shake off excess, work in lots of flour into the crevices, let dry for several hours, then shake off the excess flour. But I haven’t actually tried this yet.

I've been baking bread for several years, but could never get that nice look that you see on the crust of loaves from professional bakers. Turns out all I needed was this basket. I use it with the cloth in place (thoroughly floured), and the spiral of the basket is still visible on the finished bread. I haven't noticed any other significant changes from using this basket compared to other bowls I'd used for proofing before, but if you want to impress people with your professional-looking bread, this will give you the look you need.

I recently learnt what bannetons are and decided to get one for my wife, who is an avid baker. This banneton seems to be well made and of good quality and arrived in perfect condition. We tried it out last night and made a delicious, fluffy bread with sesame seeds sprinkled on top. Overall, very satisfied with this purchase.

I don’t think it’s this banneton per say, I’m just not an expert with it. I tried with and without its liner and I can’t get a decent loaf to proof in it like it should. I’m also not an expert baker :) I dabble. I thought this would help. I tried using rice flour to no avail. Again, I don’t think it’s the banneton, but I figured I should put a review on here for those like me.

Perfectly sized proofing bowl that leaves beautiful flour rings on the bread. The cloth liner is great for those extra sticky doughs. It did not have a chemical smell when first arriving, unlike some other proofing bowls I have had. Great price too!

I would go to five stars if there had been any advice on how best to care for a Banneton. The bread I baked in the Banneton was lovely to look at, only slightly less wonderful to eat, but for that I have only myself to blame.
