We had a problem with the door to our garage slamming shut if it was windy, and any doors or windows were open. I replaced our door closer, and it was better for about three years and then it slowly began to happen again. I looked for a better quality replacement, and found this one on Amazon. It had great reviews, and so far it has lived up to the reviews. The door no longer slams under any conditions. It does require more force to open it, but not uncomfortably so. I feared the extra force would increase the tendency to slam, but it is so well damped it does not happen. An interesting side note: I recently stayed in a hotel and the door closers on the room doors appear to be the same so the same as this. If they can hold up to commercial use I think it will hold up to my garage.

These door closers are fire rated, and are well made. Bought some for replacement of 25 year old condominium unit residents' main door. Almost identical to original with exception that mounting arms require slightly different screw holes on the door mounding.

The closer was purchased for my residence. I put it on my rear exterior door. The door is a 36" wide solid core wood door. The closer was a replacement for a worm out Norton closer. I chose it because the fastener pattern of the new closer matched the existing. Unfortunately I will have to change again. This closed was supposedly for relatively light duty, but it offers too much opening resistance. It is not adjustable in this regard. Closing maode adjusters that adjust sweep speed and latch function work perfectly.

It was easy to install with the instructions. It works well and looks good.
