All metal design, durable. Most parts are made by Diecast Aluminum, like other common Aluminum kitchenwares, it not dishwahs safe! Pay attention to this.

Yes, but 30 pounds is going to take a while either way, but I am very happy with this attachment. I use it to grind meat all the time, mostly for chicken. Cut the meat into strips or cubes, and you won't have any problems. It will save your arm!
