Important "around the house" bit set!
EXCEPTIONAL! Great quality hex mount bit set from Milwaukee! Around the house, I mostly use one of the several smaller electric screwdrivers/drills kept at various locations (utility room, kitchen, office, den, etc.) for those quick jobs we all run into that need just one or a few screws. Not infrequently, one of us also needs to drill just one or two holes in something light (drywall, wood for a small project, etc.) and it's just so much quicker & easier to be able to do it by just using a hex mount drill bit in one of those same small electric drill/drivers. The problem I kept running into was that, if the drivers came with any hex drill bits, it was only 2-4 low-quality bits. It seemed like, inevitably, the hole I needed to drill was a different size than the bits provided. So I decided I needed a much more conplete set of hex shanked bits! When I tried looking for a more complete set of hex drill bits, I was surprised at the paucity of choices. And, of those, it appeared that most "sets" I could find were of poor quailty, had very limited bit sizes, did not have a secure case, &/or were being offered by brands I didn't know. Finally, I narrowed it down to what seemed to be just two quality sets: This set & the DeWalt 10 piece set. The two weren't far apart in price, so what ultimately persuaded me was the extra 8 bit sizes in this set, even though I suspect DeWalt's "one piece" design probably is technically superior. So, essentially, I'm betting that - for the low RPM light duty I intend for these bits - the design difference won't matter. These bits look great, are certainly quite sharp, come with a very secure latching case and - so far - have met or exceeded my expectations.

Great bits, dumb case
I loved my old Stanley set of hex-shank drills, but after many years the case had fallen apart, and with the high cost of individual replacements for the broken bits, it made more sense to buy a new set. I chose this one based on reviews here and elsewhere, and I'm generally pleased with it.I can't say whether the "Red Helix" variable twist clears chips faster or not, but the split-tip configuration is very effective at minimizing wander, and these bits chew through aluminum like butter. I've had other name-brand drill bits that spun right out of their hex shanks, but these appear to be well retained. I hope they last well, because the split-tip can't be resharpened with my Drill Doctor. You should be aware that the sizes from 1/16 to 3/16 are short- or maintenance-length (15/16 to 1-11/16 long) rather than the more common jobber's length. That's fine by me because I prefer their greater rigidity, but consider your own needs. The drill bits get five stars in my book, but I have to take away a star because of the case. On the plus side, it looks like a tiny little tool box when closed, which my wife thinks is cute :) It's solid, and it has "real" pinned hinges rather than the "living" (i.e., "cheap molded junk") hinge used on so many plastic cases. The latch is very secure and easy to use.On the minus side, everything else about the case is annoying. It's much larger than necessary, and its design could be far more user-friendly.Firstly, the only way to tilt up the index blocks is to apply finger pressure to the drill tips (sharp, hey?) to overcome the strong detent that keeps them in the stored position. Then, the bits are a tight fit in the blocks; if you have big fingers, you may have to resort to using pliers to pull out the bit you want. It's worse with the smaller sizes because the two ranks of bits are in a single index block and they tilt up together, with no finger space between them. I contrast this with my old Stanley set, where the bits were drop-in loose and easy to remove, but locked in place as the index block was tilted back into the case. Finally, the placement of the size markings on the left block is just stupid. They look great in the product photo, don't they? But the markings for the rear row of bits are exactly centered behind the front bits, so you have to play "peek-a-boo" to read them. And forget about reading the markings for the front row of bits, because they're completely hidden when the index block is tilted up (see my photo below). Come on, Milwaukee, you can do much better than this.Back to the bits... I should point out that although the 1/16, 5/64, 7/64, 5/32, 3/16, and 1/4 bits are duplicated, there's no 7/16 bit. (Guess what size I needed almost immediately?) It's available separately as p/n 48-89-4625, but not listed on Amazon, and about $13 elsewhere. It won't fit in that spare location in the case, which is too close to the 1/2 bit, but it should store OK in the 3/8 slot if I re-order the other bits.Which leads me to my final observation: If you need more sizes, consider the 29-piece set instead, p/n 48-89-4632, not listed on Amazon, but about $70 elsewhere. No duplicates, but every size from 1/16 to 7/16 in 1/64 increments except, mysteriously, no 13/32, plus 15/32 and 1/2.

Excellent!
I purchased this bit set to compliment my Milwaukee drill/driver. The bits are durable and do a great job. Nice selection of sizes. A great value to accompany your Milwaukee tools.

Extremely Useful
I am a Diesel Technician at a Ford adealership and I got these bits because these drill bits perform better than some Carbide Drill bits I have used. They eat through metal with ease. I have even drilled through manifold bolts with no issues.
