Only three things wrong with it.
Terrific little unit - only three things wrong with it. First, the unit does not come with any Ethernet port. You will need to purchase an additional accessory, Ethernet female to USB 3.0 male adapter, especially if you do not have wireless service in your area. Second, the start button takes more than 90 seconds just to get to your first, password page, even after all the latest Windows and Dell Updates were installed successfully. And third, the McAffe Anti-Virus utility that comes pre-loaded, is only good for 30 days, after which, you get a large, annoying pop-up window every time you open a folder. The only way to circumvent this (assuming you do not want to pay McAffe extra $$$ for a subscription), is to go into the control panel > programs and features, and manually remove the two McAffe programs.

Great for casual use, writing, research, streaming - not the best for photo editing
This is a great laptop for my needs - lightweight, portable, powerful enough to do everything I need. Between my phone and my gaming PC, I didn't need or want to drop a significant amount of money on a high-powered machine. I mostly do freelance writing, researching articles, some photo editing, and streaming Netflix from my laptop. Since I do freelance writing, I didn't want an actual tablet - I needed something with an attached keyboard to make typing easier. This is the perfect solution for my needs, and almost a year later everything still works great! I do need to be sure to re-start it or shut it down every few days or it starts acting sluggish, but nothing that is a major draw back so far, and restarting it always seems to fix the issue.I give it 4 stars instead of 5 for some design problems. Most annoyingly, the power button is on the right side closest to the edge of the key board, and right next to the volume controls. Its very easily to accidentally turn the computer off if it's in "laptop" mode if you grab the side of it to pick it up or pull it close. It's also too easy to hit the power button instead of the volume.Secondly, the color balance in the screen isn't the best. This isn't a problem for casual use, but does make it difficult to edit pictures, as anything I edit on my laptop looks vastly different on most other screens. I spent some time trying to adjust my screen settings to balance the color out, but it's not something that can be helped. I don't think this is an issue or even noticeable for most users or even casual editing of pictures, but if you are a professional or are very concerned about editing pictures just right, this may not be for you. Personally, I still have my PC for any important pictures, and can still fiddle with some minor adjustments on this laptop. All in all I'm glad I bought this, and I would recommend it to anyone looking for something to supplement phone or desktop use, or for taking notes/doing school work. I'm not sure how well it would run games, but for a light-weight, medium-use machine this is a great option.

Wonderful Little Laptop
I am very impressed with this laptop. It exceeded my expectations in every way. The computer was purchased for portability, not power, so I understand the limitations. I use it mostly for web browsing and word processing. I did replace the hard drive with a Samsung 850 EVO SSD. It is much faster and better performing than I expected, partially to the credit of the SSD I installed. The computer is easy to open up to swap out RAM and storage should you choose to. The 4 GB of RAM it comes with is the minimum I would like to see in a computer. It is fine for my needs and I don't plan to upgrade to a larger capacity. The RAM utilization generally floats around 40-50% during idle and goes up slightly when web browsing. It generally does not exceed 80-90% for any length of time. The CPU gets maxed out to 100% while opening applications, but settles back down and generally stays well below 10% during idle and light web browsing. Service manuals are helpful and easy to find. The battery is excellent. It runs far longer than I thought it would. The computer is a comfortable weight to carry around. It does not get very hot. I am able to use it on my lap comfortably. The display is very sharp and clear. The touch screen is accurate and generally works very well. I like the coating on the screen that allows your finger to glide across it without sticking or skipping across. It is just like a good quality phone touch screen, like that of an iPhone or higher end Android. The keyboard is good; it is what you would expect on a cheap laptop. The keys have a nice travel distance and provide good feedback. The trackpad is definitely not the best and I find myself using the touch screen more often than the trackpad. I do use the trackpad for precision pointing since it is difficult to precisely point with your finger. The finish and color of the outer case are also very nice. I would have preferred a black color, but the gray color looks very nice. Overall, I am very impressed with this laptop and would definitely purchase it again.

Yep - it's slow
I bought this mainly as a backup unit that I could plug memory sticks and portable hard drives into (the major downside to iPads - no USB). Also something to travel with. As others have mentioned, it's incredibly slow given it has a Pentium processor and decent amount of RAM. This is the first Dell I've owned in thirty years and although it seems well built and functions well, the slowness really surprises me. Dell has gone downhill if this is representative of what they produce nowadays. But if you overlook the slowness, it's a good little machine. Reminds me of a few old VW Bugs I've had in years past - slow but reliable.
