As advertised.
Sharp and cut nicely. Don't open as wide as last pair. But they're a different brand and work a bit differently. I have small hands and are easy to use and work locking mechanism. They are very nice.

Great Pruners
After reading previous reviews I was a little bit concerned about the ease of the sliding lock on the handle and if it would fit my hand. The blade is made out of German steel and is high quality. When it opens all the way I can’t reach both sides well. It cuts up to an inch so you don’t really need it all the way open to cut that sized branch. If it is open all the way there is an inch and a half from the blade. I held it in my left hand and slid the lock with my right hand. I squeezed it shut as I was sliding the lock. The reason I held it in the left was the screw for lock is on the right. The picture shown is how I hold to slide lock. When cutting I have my fingers inside. If I tried sliding it from non screw side it was more difficult. Easy for me if I slide from screw side. You also need to squeeze handle closed to assist in locking or unlocking. I have trimmed trees and bushes and needed something to break them down for burning in a burn can. As soon as it got here I tested it. With my arthritis this really helps and is way more comfortable.

Hard to lock the blades shut
I've had this type of pruning shears before (different brand) but needed a new pair. These seem good quality. However, the little sliding knob to lock the blades shut when not in use is not easy to use. It just doesn't lock easily. It could use an improved design.

Easy Cutting, Very Sharp, Comfortable Grip
These are very sharp. Remember to keep this tool closed and locked when not in use. It will cut easily. Pruned a Crepe Myrtle bush with ease. Handle is extremely comfortable. I recommend this product.

You should try this design pruner. It works and well.
Bought because I wanted to see if this design was any better than another I bought. The design is the same they work the same. This design I like. The blades are sharp. easily cuts Ligustrum branches up to 3/4 on occasion requiring 2 hands. You can cut 1 inch by rotating the branch with small cuts. This design is now my favorite. Doesn't need a spring return because of the rifle like grip. My first impression was yuk. The rachet mechanism rattles but that's a good thing. You should use gloves on both hands. Also, when holding a bunch of trigs stay 2 inch back away from the cutting blade. Wrap your entire fist around so you don't nip that pinky finger. Ever notice, it doesn't want to get involve. It's not a cup of tea. This goes for all hand pruners. I just cut 30 x 33 GAL bags of bushes with 2 pruners of this design.

Very poor quality
I bought these shears hoping the ratchet mechanism would make gardening easier on my joints, but they have been a massive disappointment. • Poor Performance: These shears are neither strong nor sharp. Instead of a clean cut, they tend to crush stems or get stuck halfway through a branch. • Broken Ratchet: The ratchet mechanism—the main reason I purchased these—is clunky and fails to engage properly. It often slips, defeating the purpose of having a mechanical advantage. • Agonizing for Arthritis: As someone living with arthritis, these are a nightmare. Because they aren't sharp, you have to apply significantly more force to get through a basic prune. This puts immense pressure on my hands, leading to immediate flare-ups and pain. • Zero Comfort: To make matters worse, the handles have almost no padding. The hard grip digs into your palms, making them incredibly uncomfortable to hold for more than a minute. If you have any hand pain or weakness, stay away from these. They are a waste of money and physically painful to use.

Only really useful for very large hands
I am a large woman taller than average but not super tall and my hands are not small my fingers are quite long. These trimmers do not open the blade wide enough to cut a good thick stem. They may work better for tea roses but you do have to open your grip so wide that you are almost about to drop the grips to get it on the stem. That makes your hand shaky and sloppy while cutting because you are awkwardly balancing the grips to get them around the stem. That does not make for enjoyable gardening. Now if you are a very large man (built like a football player) your hands might easily widen enough. Think Brian Shaw or Eddie Hall. Pass on this one ladies unless you are a big and tall gal with great hands. They're metal and seem decent. Just poor design for the average person. Fantastic for pro athlete types and bodybuilders that need bigger stuff. As far as quality.....I don't trust it. It's hard to say but it didn't seem to cut very well. Now that can be remedied by sharpening the blade but that is a skill I do not have. Could be great needs rework on the design and sharper blades. I loved the rings around the grip. that was useful in keeping large thorny branches away from my rose gloves as an added protection.

Good pruning tool for larger hands
I have larger hands for a female and this works well for me. I understand if your hands are small, this may not work as well. I just used these yesterday to prep branches for the yard waste container. It was great. Nothing has broken on it, the lock is functional and all is well.

Really very excellent pair of pruning shears, especially for those of us with arthritis in our hands. I cleaned up a tangled mess in my backyard without a single thing of pain and I didn’t have to use a drop of oil.

Bought as a gift: doesn’t look giftable. It’s light and looks cheap with a Very poor finish and has Chinese script on the label. Unless the Germans have changed their script, I doubt that it’s from Germany!
