how do you use the drill attachments? In particular the one meant for putting plug in?

The "drill" attachment is to ream the hole big enough for the plug . The tool that has what looks like an eyelet on the end is for inserting the plug. Put the center of the pug in the eylet and insert in the hole this will fold the plug in half. It's hard to describe I recommend watching a couple YouTube videos on plugging a tire.

Will this also work for a puncture outside the tread on the sidewall?

I am sorry to say that a puncture in your side wall should not be plugged. There is a vulnerability as well as the strength to the sidewall with a plug. Your side wall is thinner than the tread thickness of your tires. Sorry about the not positive message, but safety comes first.

Does it work in runflat tires?

Although not recommended by tire manufacturers, you can plug a run flat tire as long as the puncture is in the tread. So this will work for a tread puncture, at your own discretion.

Is the lubricant also a type of rubber cement?

No! Good question since they don’t even mention glue which I find pretty amazing since you can spend all of the time and effort, go through all of the steps to complete the repair only to find that you you don’t have any glue or a fix that fails in 10 minutes!! Do yourself a huge favor and pickup a tube of this (Slime's Rubber Cement 3 pack comes in an easy to use canister with a brush that is conveniently attached to the lid. Use with Slime patches and plugs for a complete repair) for each vehicle and check it every now and then to make sure that it’s still viable. Also consider double packaging as insurance against a very messy, stinky and difficult to clean accidental leak.
