Very nice blades. Not as sharp as Feathers, but still nice and sharp.

I use this blade with my Henson AL13 razor. This blade is sharper, stiffer, and lasts longer than the RK blades shipped with the AL13. Recommend using a high quality tallow based shave soap instead of canned shave cream with this blade to avoid shave burn from the sharper blades. It is easy to get more than 4 shaves out of each of these higher quality blades.

My beard is tough and it just tears through the new-fangled Gillette Mach3/5 razors. If I manage to get more than two comfortable shaves out of one of those cartridges it's a miracle. Unfortunately, changing the cartridge every other shave is crazy expensive. That's why I made the switch to shaving with an old double edge safety razor several years ago. Paired with these Gillette Silver Blue blades (my favorite), I get a shave better than what I got with the expensive Mach series cartridges, but at much lower cost ($0.18/blade instead of ~ $2 per cartridge). I can get a year's worth of shaves out of a 100 pack of these Silver Blues for the same price as a month of shaving with Mach 3 cartridges. Over the years I've tried a bunch of different DE blades including blades from Personna, Derby, Feather, Crystal, Merkur, and many of the Gillette offerings. For my face, these Silver Blues walk the right balance between sharpness and smoothness. They cut through my tough beard and leave me smooth without any burn and I don't have to be super careful to avoid cuts as I do with Feathers. Just a great blade all around. These will continue to be my blade of choice for the foreseeable future.

When I opened the package, I was ready to give a one-star review. Why? What was in the package was NOT Gillette Silver Blue. I was sent 100 Astra blades, which I had never used. The packing slip listed the contents as "Astra Silver Blue". The ad here on Amazon clearly shows Gillette Silver Blue. Is Astra made by Gillette? I don't know. They were manufactured in Russia. Maybe some of you know. If so, reply here. I had to decide, do I return them or keep them? I wasn't happy, but decided to try one, realizing once I did, I'd be committed to keeping the other 99 blades I just received. So why am I giving it a five-star rating? Because the Astra blade, for my face, is one of the best blades I've used. I get a near perfect shave with minimal nicks and weepers. I was amazed! I was previously using Feather blades, which are incredibly sharp. I had to learn how to shave with Feather blades. They require precision, a light touch, and an intimate understanding of your own personal beard growth. Apparently the Astra blades are just sharp enough to cut my hair while being more forgiving on my skin cells than Feather. Everyone's face is unique, so each of us men (or women, if you're into using DE blades on your legs or wherever) needs to experiment with different blades to determine what works best for you. For me, I'm sticking with Astra. Now... If you order the Gillette Silver Blue from this Amazon ad, will you receive it? I don't know. I didn't. But for me, it didn't matter. The merchant's mistake ended up being a brilliant one, and I'm happy!
