Q: How to deal with the driftwood to prevent the water in the fish tank from turning black？

I boiled it three times with salt and changed the water after each time. Then I boiled it twice in plain water. I ended up letting them sit in the water for three days, changing the water every morning. Then after I put them in the aquarium, the water didn't turn black. They are a beautiful dark brown.

Q: What type of salt when boiling?

I used regular table salt and it worked just fine. I probably put in maybe 2 tablespoons each time I changed the water during the boiling process.
