It works great.
I only knock down a star because of price. At over $140.00 for a sledge hammer, it is high. Most sledge hammer cost between $30 and $60, but at almost triple that, it is still worth it. I already owned the next size down and needed something a little larger. It works great.

Great Sledge
A great sledgehammer for specialty jobs. It is deadblow, which means it:1) does not bounce after you hit something. You may be surprised the first few times you use it, expecting the usual recoil. But this sledge transfers all the energy down to the thing you're bashing, and so there's no energy left to bounce back. Also, because none of the force is lost, this 11.5 pounder seems to me to work as hard as a 16 pounder.2) does not mark the thing you're hitting. Well, you have to really catch the edge to make a mark on wood. If the face of the sledge hits the target flat, then it does not leave a mark.Yes, expensive. But it seems unbreakable (I've used mine in a commercial log home building construction yard for 20+ years--so that's $7 per year, and going down every year).I am a log home builder, and I teach and write about log home construction (Log Construction Manual: The Ultimate Guide to Building Handcrafted Log Homes and Building Log Homes -- Box 1, Log Walls -- with Robert W. Chambers. I also make a few specialty tools, like my Chambers Scribers ChambersScriber -- Ultimate Log Home Scribers.I do not know of a substitute for this sledge -- nothing else is quite like it. And it is great tool.

El servicio al cliente fue excelente cuando tuve preguntas sobre el producto.
The Stanley Works, originally a bolt and door hardware manufacturing company located in New Britain, Connecticut; was founded in 1843 by Frederick T. Stanley. A few years later, in 1857, Fredericks cousin, Henry Stanley, founded The Stanley Rule and Level Company. In 1920, The Rule and Level Company merged with The Stanley Works and would go on to become its famous Hand Tools Division. Over the years, The Stanley Works has produced some of the most innovative and useful tools ever made. Among these tools are the Bailey Plane, the Surform shaper, the PowerLock tape rule and most recently the FatMax line of products. Today, more than ever, Stanley continues to be an industry leader in tool innovation. In 2001, Stanley introduced more than 100 new products, bringing to 400 the number of new products introduced in the past four years. As a direct result of Stanleys commitment to excellence, Stanley was awarded the Prestigious Golden Hammer Award, presented for New Product Innovation in both 2000 and 2001.
