Mine have elastic all around. I bought them July 2012, so hopefully they haven't changed the design. By the way - they still look brand new!

Yes, deep pockets. They will fit perfectly a standard mattress. I just got mine and put them on my bed. Not a pillow top, but a thick mattress. I didn't expect it would hold at all corners, but it did.

Q: What is the thread count?

I checked the package and it does not indicate a thread count - just 100% polyester. I can say they are totally soft and smooth and suggest that you contact the vendor if you have any questions. They were very helpful when I called.

Q: Do these have a zipper closure?
