How do you unlock this knife? It won't open no matter what I try. Maybe mine is defective?

The blade only locks when its open. See the two protruding knobs, You have to pull back forcefully on the smaller tab at the bolster (end) of the knife. To unlock it once its open, push the metal catch to the side and close the blade. On these knifes sometimes the metal catch isn't as easy as it should be, you may need to put pressure on the cutting edge to free the catch up a bit. Hope this helps
