Holbein Watercolor Palette #80

Exactly what I wanted. Big slanted wells that don’t ruin your brushes and a ton of mixing space that paint doesn’t bead up on. It’s big enough but still portable too. It’s not airtight. I didn’t want that but it’s something to be aware of. I am using it for watercolor and I want the paint to dry, otherwise it can mold. It’s aluminum so that is the only thing I would change so magnets would stick in case I wanted to add an extra half pan. I am using blu tack and that works fine.

Lovely palette, would buy again. Great lightweight not ridiculously big. Not that many options if you want to avoid plastic but want something portable, and this delivers. There's a BUT though. I saw this on someone else's comment before buying, and I'm having the same issue. The seal / welding / glazing between the lower mixing area and the raised tilted pans has defects. Unlike that other commenter, I see no visible cracks, but when mixing up my Payne's Grey in one of the corners, the liquid disappears. I'm going to try to see if I can seal it with something (hot glue? Superglue?..) because I still love this, and otherwise will just avoid that specific corner (not happening with the others)

excellent- has build every great painter describes. slanted paint cubes sloping down from raised water dam to keep paint clean till use, good wash and mixing areas. Is metal so paint will not bead. Snaps together simply, opening easily. The water dam was a happy surprise, and something I like and did not expect was the middle hinge is worked so the entire lays flat and open as one open piece laying in one hand. Really nice build, look and handling

The size of this palette is perfect for storage and travel. 3 mixing pools and one big pool provide the required mixing of colors. If you travel and need to paint, this is a good product.

At the beginning you may feel it’s loose. After you use it for a while you will find it tighter. But make sure no running pigments/ water is left inside the pallet before you close it and put it in your bags or suitcases as it will leak. The paint on the upper part of the pallet needs to be totally dry also before you can store it upside down as the paint will run out and leave a mess inside or even worse, outside. After all this is a great pallet. Just the right size. Light weight. Easy to carry and work with.

Holbein makes great palettes. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because it is a little large for travel. One note, this was a refurbished palette inspected by Amazon and it looks like a new palette and was in the box.

It was delivered but was dented and thus unable to open, Impossible to use
