Still the best clear gel out there. Perfect glide so you don’t Knick. Use primary on my head. It’s just getting hard to find. They used to offer a metal bottle and refills. Would like to see those back in the US.

This has been my go-to shave gel for many years. It works great. I was gifted an expensive brand (Kiehl's) about 30 years ago. It was my 1st experience with GOOD (not foam from a can) shaving cream. It was a life changing experience. I never bought another can of foam. Approximately 10 yrs later, I went on a trip and forgot my Kiehl's. A friend let me use his King of Shaves. I was impressed, more so when I found out it cost about 1/4 of what my beloved Kiehl's did. I bought my own KoS the next time I needed shaving gel and haven't used anything else since. The company has been bought and sold (at least once) but the gel still works well for me.

I got the newer version of the product but was trying to buy the refill packet of the shave cream to go in the metal bottle they sold for it. Loved the idea of less waste and love that the bottle worked better in shower than tube does.

Well, I ordered this "refill" expecting to get the aluminum dispenser talked about in comments. Imagine my surprise when all I got was a baggie full of shave gel. Useless. A real shame because I love the shave gel, I've been using it for years. Guess I'll just return this and go see if the store still has the old container.

I had tried King of Shaves a number of years back and was put off by the chemical smell. After trying it again sadly I still have the same opinion. For me it smells like petroleum chemicals. Very off putting, especially since these days I want less chemical based stuff in my life, especially on my face.It is slick and will give you a good shave. Truthfully, any shave gel worth its weight will do that. The key is to prepare your face and use a good razor. For me, there are a few sensitive skin gels that will get the job done. The bonus is that some of them are half the price of this one without the laboratory smell.I wanted to like the product this time around, but for me it left the same impression as before.
