The best floodlight cameras you can buy The Ring Floodlight Cams are genuinely the GOAT — the greatest of all time when it comes to home security. We’ve got one on the back of the house overlooking the garden, and another on the garage covering the drive. The lights are really bright, the motion detection is spot on, and the app makes it easy to set up and use. These are the wired-in versions, so I had an electrician friend fit them. From what I saw, the wiring looked a bit fiddly, so if you’re not confident with electrics I’d suggest going for the battery or solar versions instead. Once installed, they’ve been flawless — never gone down once, no issues with power, and they don’t draw much at all spurred off a garage socket. The camera quality is fantastic, the live view works brilliantly, and the microphone is surprisingly good. Ours picks up perfectly at the garage door and even down to where the postman drops parcels. Handy for telling the odd cat to clear off too. They also look smart and feel premium. Even little touches like the orange screwdriver that comes in the box are great — I use it all the time. We bought ours on sale, which made them even better value, but honestly they’re worth full price. For security, peace of mind, and ease of use, these are a must. Five stars, highly recommend

Great camera/lights. I have bought 2 of these now. Links to my other ring devices and stored on the ring cloud via a subscription. I only required the lights for the garden for the 2nd device but with the discounts it made sense to a get another camera version. Easy to fit if you already have outside lights so the wiring is in place other wise you may need an electrician to sort that bit. The first one had an issue after 12 months where the lights never completely turned off . Contacted Amazon and they had a replacement sent in a few days

We recently replaced our old floodlight with the Ring Floodlight Cam Wired Pro. The installation was straightforward, because we already had a floodlight installed, swapping in this camera was quick and hassle-free. Pairing it with our existing Ring account went smoothly too, and the app recognised the device without fuss. Once up and running, the camera looks smart on the outside of the house. Daytime video quality is excellent, the picture is crisp and clear, giving detailed, sharp images of the area the camera covers. In good light, it certainly gives a premium-feel to the security setup. However — the reason I didn’t give 5 stars: the “Colour Night Vision” feature didn’t perform as I expected. Although the product spec promises colour footage at night, in my case the night-time video looked no different from plain vision, basically the same visual appearance as my own naked eye. I couldn’t see the benefit of “colour night vision” over simple night vision, which for me limits how useful the feature is. I double-checked settings and everything seemed configured correctly, so it was disappointing to not get the enhanced night-time image I hoped for. All in all, good build, easy to install, looks tidy, great daytime video. But inconsistent night-time performance holds me back from a full 5-star rating. If night vision in colour is a big deal for you, this could be a let-down (at least on my unit).

Installed by electrician for me so can’t comment on installation. However, Very impressive clear images with wide angle views once installed. Even night time images are clear. The associated lights are motion sensitive which is a bonus if you don’t want them on constantly- though that option is available via the app which is easy to download. A marvellous, cheaper option to CVTV. Recommended.

These are the bees knees. We bought 3 to put around our house and got an electrician to install them during a rewire. They light up the area extremely well and the video quality is great. Motion can be a bit sensitive, but I would prefer that to deter intruders. All the lights are hardwired in to a switch in the loft giving us the option to turn them off if required (not that I can think of a reason to do that). They are expensive at full price, but wait until an Amazon sale to get them at a great bargain.

I have got two of these at high level, front and back of house. They are the best cameras I own from the Ring range. They are hard wired meaning you aren’t constantly recharging them. They have floodlights which act as a great deterrent for any potential criminal activity. They connect really well and easily to my home WiFi, and are really stable. There is sometimes a short delay getting to the live view but that’s the case with all of the cameras I’ve used. The picture quality is sufficient I feel, even at night. The sound capture is also very good. It is a decent size to be discreet but also be visible. I actually was able to help a neighbour some few houses down who was driven into, and I shared the video as evidence which they appreciated. Overall I have no regrets buying this, especially during the regular ring sales. Well done Ring!
