Oh Dear......!
Well I like a gadget or two and I thought this was a really good idea, in fact enough of a good idea to spend £200 on a kitchen bin!!How wrong I was!, it’s a terrible idea, very poorly thought out, very poor quality and just doesn’t work. The bracket/handle thing is all plastic & flimsy and has eventually exploded!, the compaction doesn’t really compact, well let me put it this way it’s easier to push down the waste in a regular bin with your hand via a bottle or a bag or whatever and the result is far better than this gimmick of a compacty thing!On the upside I’ve had it for 8 months now and finally had enough of trying to find the exploded bits of handle in smelly rubbish so I’ve called Amazon who have once again excelled in their customer service, it’s being returned and I will get a full refund.........thank heavens!!!!

Flimsy Mechanism terrible customer support
I bought this bin in December 2017 after being reassured by the 10 year guarantee. Within a year the compactor mechanism came apart and I contacted them and received a replacement. In the past week the mechanism has come apart again (Serious design flaw). I contacted Joseph Joseph again and they are now saying they will only honour the warranty if it's bought through their website and that I have to contact my retailer (Amazon). As usual Amazon have been extremely helpful but are unable to honour the manufactures guarantee and I have to contact the manufacturer. For such an expensive bin I'm finding the customer service from Joseph Joseph to be appalling.

It's OK but
We were initially very impressed - we like Joseph Joseph products a lot - however the mechanism for the compactor is a bit cheap and flimsy and the pieces that hold the "hinge" to make the compacting motion work are plastic and basically pop out all the time which has resulted in us losing a piece and now it just falls apart every time we compact or change a bin bag - so now it's just annoying for the money I'd expected better engineering - a real shame. I contacted Joseph Joseph and they told me to contact the retailer (Amazon) but because it was 6 months ago there's no button for that! So here I am aimlessly clicking things to try and find a way to contact them that won't be ignored - getting angrier and writing bad reviews - go figure.......

Belle poubelle mais ...
Belle poubelle que nous utilisons depuis plus d'un an maintenant.Certes, elle est encombrante pour un volume utile de 30L mais contrairement à pas mal d'autres poubelles, il est possible de la placer contre un mur (ou un meuble) sans que cela ne gêne le mécanisme d'ouverture.Cela permet donc de gagner un peu d'espace.La fixation du sac poubelle demande quelques minutes au départ mais maintenant cela ne prend plus que quelques secondes, c'est donc plutôt bien pensé.La compression fonctionne plus ou moins bien en fonction des déchets et de la façon dont ils sont agencés : elle sera forcément plus efficace si vous avez des enfants qui jettent "comme ça vient" que si vous faites attention à l'agencement (en emboitant les différents pots par exemple).En revanche, après un peu plus d'un an d'utilisation, le mécanisme d'ouverture s'est détérioré et le ralentissement du couvercle à la fermeture n'est plus aussi fort qu'avant et laisse donc entendre un bruit lors de la fermeture.Or c'est justement pour éviter cela que nous avons acheté cette poubelle haut de gamme, il n'est donc pas acceptable que celle-ci se détériore aussi rapidement (le constructeur annonce une garantie de 10 ans sur cet article).J'ai fait une demande à Amazon pour le remplacement (ou la réparation) de cet article et j'attends un retour.Je ne doute pas qu'une solution soit trouvée mais pour l'instant je suis dans l'attente.
