Halloween fan here....
I am a Halloween movie fan, and now own all of the movies in the original series in 4K. This one, number 4, as with all of the others, is phenominal and the 4K transfer is flawless. The colors really pop, and the picture is pristine. The UHD makes every part of the movie come alive like never before, and although I've seen them all numerous times, the quality of the 4K keeps me watching again, and again. Recommended.

Great memories of a classic
First Halloween movie I saw at a friend's sleepover on VHS. Still remember the thumb in the forehead scene and the 4k just gives it a whole new life. Atmospheric and a must see for any horror fan.

Ten years later, the evil returns.
After the fan disappointment with the underrated “Halloween II” and the Michael Myers-less “Halloween III: Season Of The Witch,” the franchise’s creative force, John Carpenter, sold the rights back to Moustapha Akkad’s Trancas International. With the popularity of terror titans Chucky, Freddy Krueger and Jason Voorhees continuing unabated, Akkad jumped back into “The Shape’s” legacy with “Halloween 4: The Return Of Michael Myers.”A decade after Myers’ Haddonfield murder spree on the Halloween night of 1978, he has been in a coma. Upon his transfer to another facility, he is reawakened and finds his way back to Haddonfield. Hot on his heels is the battle scarred Dr. Sam Loomis (Donald Pleasence). While there is much to savor in this 1988 resurrection of a popular horror hero, there are both positive and negative elements. The positives- the moody, atmospheric cinematography of Robert Draper, sufficiently mirroring the blue hues of Dean Cundey’s rich lighting; a legacy-faithful continuation of the Myers’ legacy authored by Alan B. McElroy; an ominous ambient-pseudo rock score by Carpenter-protege and sound effects wizard Alan Howarth; and a doozy of an ending that has yet to be bested by any writer in the saga. The negatives-the production opted for a 1:85:1 aspect ratio, conspicuously abandoning the distinctive 2:35:1 ‘scope framing of the other entries; the Utah lensed feature doesn’t quite match the California turned Illinois town of Haddonfield; the towering George Murdock is a capable stunt man, but he is so much taller than the 5’9” Dick Warlock of “II;” and the revised ‘Captain Kirk’ mask is generic and far from menacing.Regardless, director Dwight Little’s handling of the material is admirable and fast-paced, boasting solid performances by Danielle Harris, Ellie Cornell, Beau Starr, and his lusty daughter Kathleen Kinmont, who do their very best to stop the hulking Myers.Myers’ increased frame was likely an artistic choice to compete with the rival “Friday The 13th” franchise’s hulking Jason-and quite popular-juggernaut with Kane Hodder.Extras included on this shout! Factory 2-disc “Collector’s Edition” include a pair of commentaries, featurettes, and the expected collection of trailers and production stills.Realistically, the series should have concluded here, but less than a year later, “The Revenge Of Michael Myers” lumbered briefly into multiplexes.
