I picked up this M.2 SATA SSD to 2.5" SATA enclosure to repurpose an old M.2 SATA drive, and it worked flawlessly. After assembling it, I tested read and write speeds before and after using the enclosure, and they matched within expected parameters — no noticeable difference in performance. Important tips for anyone considering this product: 1. Compatibility: This enclosure only works with M.2 SATA SSDs, not M.2 NVMe drives. Make sure your M.2 card has either a B key or a B+M key. NVMe drives typically have only an M key and will not physically fit or work because this enclosure's slot is for B key connections. I suspect some of the negative reviews are from people trying to fit NVMe drives into this SATA-only enclosure. 2. Switching Modes: There’s a small slider inside to toggle between NGFF (for M.2 SATA) and mSATA (for mSATA drives). Make sure to set this correctly based on the type of drive you’re installing. I used an M.2 SATA drive, so I switched it to NGFF, and it worked right away. 3. Form Factor: If you’re using an M.2 SATA drive, it should have either B or B+M notch configuration — double-check your drive before purchasing this enclosure. Overall, a great product that performs as expected — just be aware of these technical details to avoid compatibility issues. Highly recommended if you know what you're working with!

good price. works perfect... easy to use and setup... put in drives... screw in..etc. I use it daily for data transfers and checking drives - creating partitions... does not work with NVME drives... only sata. I would buy again if i needed another and i did recently so i did but it again. :-)

Great tool box item for the PC hobbyist. Good to have when you need to access an M.2 Sata or NGFF strip that might be out of your PC or if you want to preload an OS using a Standard 2.5 SATA bay. Easy to use, remove cover, install M.2 SATA SSD or NGFF strip, set switch, replace cover and install in a 2.5 Sata bay just like you would with a standard Sata 2.5" drive. One thing to note, it uses some really tiny Phillips head screws that are easily lost, it would have gotten 5 stars if they had used a better system for securing the top of the case.

Great product, work as described.

This item is exactly as show in the photos, so there is no mounting option for a m.2 of a lesser size than the 2280 (full length) card. If you do not have a SATA to USB cable already this can only be used with the SATA herd drive cables. Nice little package, no heat sink nor room in the cover for one if one is needed for the ssd.

Does not allow mSATA SSD to be formatted on a iMac. Recognizes it, attempts to format it but fails at the end. Same mSATA SSD works perfect in another mSATA SSD enclosure, just doesn't work in this one.

My job had an issue where we could not wipe the drives because there were non nvme drives. This came in handy. We have wiped several drives over the last few weeks. Still works like a champ, will order a few more.

I mistakenly purchased the wrong adapter. The description of this product is exactly correct, but I failed to choose the right adapter to go with my m.2 SSD. Here's the problem. The M.2 form factor can be used for many different devices. Make sure the adapter you buy fits the device configuration you have. There are sub-standards for connector-key configuration and interface protocols. Check out technical references to be sure you're ready to navigate the messy world of M.2 modules OR, leave M.2 modules to the system designers. I'm giving this a 5-star review so as not to damage the product's ratings, but I could not test it.

Der Adapter hält was er verspricht. Mitgeliefert werden zudem mehrere kleine Schrauben, mit deren Hilfe die eingesetzten Speichermedien bzw. die mitgelieferte Abdeckung befestigt werden können, sodass man eine Art 2,5" SSD erhält. Ich habe den Adapter oft im Einsatz und keinerlei Mängel feststellen können. Nur ein kleiner Hinweis noch: ein SATA zu USB Kabel wird nicht mitgelifert und sollte separat bestellt werden falls noch nicht vorhanden.

My Surface Pro 2 sadly died and I needed a drive encloser to rescue the data from it. This has certainly done the job and now I have a spare 256gb 2.5" drive as a result. Would recommend.
