Size:For Smaller Areas Our Second Generation Pest A Cator Plus 1000 is an electronic device that utilizes a combination of electromagnetic technology and ultrasonic technology and was specifically engineered for use in the smaller home, apartment or condo. Working as an aid in the control of rodents, our family of products helps keep your family safe and homes clean. The device is designed to cause a slight phase shift (delay) in the timing of the electromagnetic field which surrounds the wiring in the home. This "phase shift" is the primary reason that this technology has been shown to have some kind of an effect on pests, and more particularly upon rodents. The device functions by broadcasting an electromagnetic signal in a pulsing fashion with an on-off cycle in order to avoid the numbing effect obtained with any constant sensory stimulus. Additionally, an ultrasonic signal is broadcast by sweeping various frequencies and with a similar on-off cycle. This ultrasonic technology has been generally regarded as having the effect of repelling pests (particularly rodents), especially in open areas and in relatively close proximities to the source of the sound transmissions. We recommend the Plus 2000 for standard-size homes. Multiple units are needed for multiple stories. The direct plug-in feature is user friendly. Plug the unit into any 110V outlet within the home (the outlet should be unobstructed to allow the ultrasonic technology feature to work). Completely maintenance free! Not a chemical that washes away, no traps that require emptying dead or dying animals. Safe to use around children and household pets (except rodent type pets), the PEST A CATOR may actually help in reducing monthly exterminator costs.

Even Pest Control People Say These Work!
If you have rats, mice, or anything else small creeping around, get these. They work. I used them at my last house and then when I moved into my new house, surprise...we had rats. Not anymore. I have a pest control service and when I told him I used these and they worked, he said "Yes, I hear they work great." See...no need to poison or snap trap them.

Let's hope it works
Updated September 2017 (6 months post-purchase): Still can't tell if it worked but I can say that it died within 6 months. The light isn't flashing anymore so I assume it's dead. I can't recommend this product.Original Post: I can't really tell if it's working but our pest control company recommended it for mice and so we purchased two for a 3000 sq ft house and plugged them in. No mice at the moment, but let's see what happens in the Fall, which is when they want to make nests in our attic. It's interesting that the reviews are either totally positive or totally negative. I was a bit skeptical based on the reviews but we have a new house and the wiring runs through the attic area so we're keeping our fingers crossed. It does seem that the wiring affects the outcome.

Sorry, but not worth it :(
We found this product at Home Depot first and later on Amazon at a better price. The product suggested (almost guaranteed) no rodents would enter the home when the device was on, as did other users. Turned out to be absolutely false. Less than 2 weeks after plugging this in, we had a rat enter the home through a small hole in the kitchen, less than 10 feet away from where this device was plugged in. It had been entering and leaving for 2 days until we finally put an end to it by closing the holes. I even have the same device upstairs and yet the rat managed to climb up the stairs until about 5 feet away from the device. It only stopped exploring because there was no food upstairs. Frankly, all this technological mumbo-jumbo does not make any sense. The expectation was just plugging this device would stop all rats and rodents from entering the house. We are back to using the traps as the best bet. I even had Orkin Pest Control come and check it out and they too confirmed this device does not work. I am hoping to contact Amazon and get a refund but not evry optimistic about that. May others have better luck. Take care.

Great but not around pets!
We use these in all of our outbuildings. They are extremely effective at keeping "critters" out of our barns and garages. We had them in the house as well, but after a week or so we realized that they were driving our house cat crazy! So, I don't suggest using them where you have domestic animals.

Repels mice and spiders
Purchased two from another vendor a couple of months ago after seeing a couple of mice after living at this condo for over 10 years . Ordered this one as an extra. Very effective. The Electromagnetic/Ultrasonic waves/sound has repelled the mice, also spiders and crickets. Learned about the effectiveness of this products from others living near wooded areas.

works good for me after two weeks.
So far, I'm really impressed! We have an old ranch house that has so many ways for mice to get in that it has been impossible to keep them out. Starting in late August, I was catching 3 to 6 mice per day in the basement using peanut butter and conventional traps.I plugged this unit in on the main floor and the next day had only 2 mice and thereafter none for 2 days. I decided to unplug it for two days to make sure it wasn't simply a fluke that there were no mice, and sure enough, they returned.I've done this on-off routine twice now and each time the unit is unplugged, the mice invade and fill the traps.Long term, I am not sure if the mice will accustom themselves to the noise, but so far, so good.

Piece of crap! Do not waste your money!!!
Useless! One star is 11 too many!! Wish I could return the piece of crap...it was so useless that forgot it was even there as I was fighting vermin who were housed right next to the machine! Do not waste your money! I planned to give it some time to start working...gave it the benefit of the doubt...so I did not return it right away, despite the fact the I heard the vermin right near it within an hour of plugging it in. I tried to give it a chance... to be fair....I ended up paying for my good intentions!

Keeps pests out!
The Pest-a-Cator Plus 2000 works! This is the second one that I've ordered. Mine works in my basement where rodents would be able to enter via several ways into my garage. In 3-years, I've never seen one and I have gardens on both sides of my house. Works wonderfully and this one is for my friend who had a rodent problem and just paid $400 for a guy to come out and tell him the rat had moved on; made him crawl under his house; made him chicken wire a few locations where rats come come in; and then, left him with the bill. I gave him the Pest-a-Cator Plus 2000 and told him to be sure to plug it into a main electrical line in the house. It will take care of every wall then and if the pests come in, they'll leave right away. He hasn't had a problem since either.
