Very easy to use with detailed instructions
This kefir fermenter really works. I bought this item a few months ago and the grains are still alive. Very easy to use, just add milk and you're good to go. Doesn't take up a lot of space, I would definitely buy again.

Short and simple--and good.
Rave review. Reduces Kefir making from about 5 minutes to one minute. BTW, don't let anybody tell you you can't make good Kefir with 1% milk.

I researched how to re-activate the dried grains by pouring milk in a jar every day for a week ( it was only a waste of milk)
I purchased this kit hoping to make my own kefir as store-bought kefir hardly has any live bacteria. No problems with packaging or delivery, but the product didn't meet my expectations. The kefir never turned out to be tangy or right consistency. I researched how to re-activate the dried grains by pouring milk in a jar every day for a week ( it was only a waste of milk). eventually, the milk reached the right consistency yet the taste was never like real kefir. Very disappointed.

Equipment 4, kefir 2.
I wish I could rate this higher. The little cage to suspend the grains seems to work as designed. It's possible to get everything apart for cleaning, but the straw might not take dishwasher temperatures without some warping. The warping doesn't seem to affect the performance, however. Everything else came through unscathed. The grains I received give a kefir that is thin like plain milk, but with a slight fizzy taste. So, I conjecture that the yeasts are alive and active. However, the kefir doesn't get thick at all, and the grains haven't increased even after several weeks of use. The kefir doesn't have the clean, sour-milk flavor that I expect, just fizzy. If I leave it to ferment longer, it develops an unpleasant "cheesy" flavor. ("Cheesy" is being generous; "spoiled milk" might be closer to the mark.) Now, this is the first the company has heard any of this. If they fix/explain the results I'm getting, I'll update this review.
