No more "prestige" coffeemakers for me
After the fourth expensive, "prestige" label coffeemaker in 10 years bit the dust, I decided to change tactics. I had been buying really expensive machines with and without coffee grinders, thermos pots, etc. They always ended up leaking all over the countertop. This is not a good way to start your morning, especially since you haven't yet had your coffee. This time I bought the cheapest (oops! I mean ""inexpensive" :-) machine I could find with a decent Amazon rating, and pour the coffee into a *separate* thermos pot. Voila! Delicious, piping hot, unburnt coffee with no coffee lakes on the counter! You can set the machine to start at the time you choose, but I like freshly ground beans so I don't use it. It doesn't take a huge amount of counter real estate, is easy to load with grounds and water, and has a clear water volume indicator. It makes great coffee that is hot without tasting scorched. It's not beautiful, but it isn't ugly either. And at this price I won't mind replacing it if it stops working in 3-4 years.

Works Well Even With the Water to Cup Ratio Weirdness
I bought this as we needed a quick replacement pot. This works perfectly well. What others have said about getting a full 12 cup pot are accurate. We had to practice how much water to put in to get the number of cups the markings read. That "don't fill above line" doesn't work here if you want a full pot. My husband took to filling it up & gauging the water as he poured it in & that's how we got a full pot. If you want 8 cups by carafe fill the water well to 10 or so. I'd read the prior reviews before buying so I was aware that was a bit of an issue so thanks to prior reviewers! Overall though, it's a sufficient & adequate pot. Brews quickly, quietly & very hot.

Nice, cheap, and programmable!
I love that I got this for less than $18.00! The price flucuates daily, so I just had to wait a week or two for it to drop (If you put it in your cart or "save for later" you will get notices at the top of your cart everyday about what items in your list have changed). That is cheaper than most regular, same sized coffee makers available. The programmable setting are easy and straight forward. It has been working exactly as it should. I've had it over a month now, using it every single day without issue. Great deal.

The only coffee pot I ever buy
I love Procter Silex coffee makers. They make the best coffee and I have gone through quite a few. Not because they broke, but because I have very hard water and the platform the pot sits on gets mineral buildup, which no matter how hard I try will not come off. I will never buy any other brand. It is dependable and never lets me down with a great cup of coffee.

works but is wierd
Got this coffee maker to replace one that had bad electronics. The actual mechanics and functionality of this machine are fine, it produces coffee and does all that. The problem with this one is that it's designed poorly. The coffee holder (where you put the grounds) doesn't sit properly in the machine, and if you don't put the carafe in properly the coffee will pour all over the table it's on. Over all it works fine, but be aware that this isn't a perfect machine.

Update since original review (orig review is down a bit): After using this product daily for just under a year, it stopped working. When it first started acting up it would occasionally stop brewing after it got through half the water in the reservoir. Sometimes turning it off and on again would get it to finish. When that stopped working I had to unplug it and plug it back in. After a couple times of that, it simply stopped working altogether :(. I won't buy another.Original Review: Buying a good coffee maker has been a challenge for us for over a decade so I was excited when I read all the great reviews of this product and the fantastic price. But we don't like it.* What it calls a "cup" is far smaller than most other coffee makers we have had. For instance 10 or 11 brewed cups of coffee in this machine is the equivalent volume of 8 brewed cups in our old machines.* We need to use slightly more beans than our old machines to get the same strength coffee.* The lid cannot be removed from the carafe which makes cleaning and drying the carafe difficult (and forget putting it in the dishwasher).* The cup gauge/markings on the side of the carafe don't measure the same volume as those on the reservoir. In other words, I measured 8 cups of water in the carafe, and when I poured it into the machine, the reservoir measured 9 cups.

Nice Coffeemaker, same programmability functions as always
Why don't coffee makers have an auto-off timer? As all the rest, this coffeemaker is only programmable to turn on and start brewing, not to turn off. I'm looking for a coffeemaker that won't burn my coffee in 15 minutes. Either an adjustable plate temperature or an auto-off timer function would complete that task, but I can't find such a simple function.Btw, the filter cup is different from older Proctor Silex coffeemakers, just in case you have one left over from an older machine.

Cafe mañanero
Una excelente compra, es una buena cafetera aunque sencilla pero es funcional para el uso, lo importante la temperatura del agua es correcta para preparar un buen americano.

Four Stars
I received this item on 6 Sept 2016 and on 12 Sept I gave it a 4 star rating and commented "works fine". On 8 Feb I went to use it and power light came on but heating element didn't heat up and and it no longer works so now I give it the lowest rating possible. So buyer beware NO WARRANTY and after 5 months it is garbage!

Don’t bother calling proctor silex they don’t answer
The media could not be loaded. Totally disappointed. I have had this machine for 5 months and the pictures describe my dissatisfaction. Rust on the carafe and pot. Sometimes hot coffee. If you have a problem, I hope you have a hands free phone so you can watch the grass grow trying to get through to customer service. They need to be accountable for the products.
