My son always likes reading in bed. I bought this lifting bed backrest for him. Adjustable back support always allows him to find a comfortable sitting position. I'm not sure what the frame is made of, but it's strong. My son has nearly 400 pounds and has been using it for 6 months without any problems. I guess the "instability" mentioned in the comment is because the inertial backrest will move back 1-2cm after the ass sits on it. Its main support force is the back frame. As long as your ass holds the small cushion of the backrest, the chair will not be moved.

The panel you sit on has a sheen, and does not grip , however I discovered my weight (200 lbs) keeps the device in place . I generally position the device in the full upright position …. The neck support is removable and can moved up or down the device …I do not use the neck support … the support is not high enough (I am 6’3”) …. The device is painted metal …. If exposed to steam or water over a period of time … I guess it would show signs of rust
