As close to a disposable set of professional level knives as you can get!
A great set of knives for those times where you don't want to risk losing or damaging your more expensive set. They are well-balanced, of surprisingly quality, and more than sharp enough for just about any job, so you can use them for a picnic, camp out or at the local church supper with little or no fear. The non-stick ceramic coating (these are NOT ceramic knives) along the sides of the blade is a nice touch and the variety of colors available makes keeping track of each piece a little easier. This set can more than hold its own against just about every other brand in the short run, however, it does have a few shortcomings. The biggest one is that they tend to lose their edge fairly quickly, depending on how often they're used and on what type of surface and how they're cleaned. Secondly, they don't react too well to any kind of sharpening, professional or otherwise, so once they do become dull, its not worth the expense to have them sharpened. Also, the ceramic side coating tends to flake off with intense washing so putting them in the dishwasher is not recommended, which is the case for most professional level knives. But when you factor in the price, these problems are more than acceptable. Plus, the included block goes a long way in prolonging the life of each knife edge and consists of a series of long slots instead of specifically sized slots so it can easily be used with other knives as well. Thanks to the price, the chef's Essential is about as close to a professional set of practically disposable knives as you can get and they are more than worth a try in any kitchen. They are also great as a first set of knives for a new cook who is not quite ready for an expensive set of professional knives but has progressed beyond the rudimentary department store starter level sets.

Great Knife. Dangerous Knife. Buy IT! Use IT! Love IT!
What something sharp? Want to cut your nail in half? Want to accidentally sever an artery? Or just want something to cut up veggies and meats? This is for you.Why spend well over $100+ on a knife set when you can get these. They are extremely sharp, I was slicing some onions and almost sliced off my nail and finger because I had accidentally slipped on my group of the onion. So yeah, these knives are sharp so be careful. I did not have any issue of the black coating coming off the knives. I have been using them for about 5 months now.I have used them for many things, slicing veggies and fruits, julienne herbs, slicing bread, cutting up meat, de-boning animal meats, chopping chicken breast, and any other form of cutting used to prep food to be cooked and what not . These knives have held up to their end. I am glad I did not spend well over $100 on other expensive sets when I have these. I probably wont need to re-sharpen them for another year or two. Also the grip is pretty decent, you dont get tired from doing repetitive chopping and slicing if you are planning to make a feast. NO slippage there and accidentally stabbing yourself or losing a finger. Just make sure you HOLD the things you are cutting more secure... like an onion, or meat.

Great quality for the price - I enjoy cooking now
My husband and I were truly impressed by the quality and affordability of this knife set. We’re newlyweds sharing our first home together, and we were gifted a lot of hand me down cutlery and when we went to cook we just didn’t have any good knives and we decided to “splurge” and buy a knife set. We absolutely loved the sleek design they look so expensive. The quality is definitely there for the price. Are they the sharpest most amazing knives? No. Do they get the job done for your average day to day cooking. Absolutely. I would have liked that they included a sharpening stone of some kind, but those aren’t hard to come by. I presume these will likely need sharpened more often, but hey for 30 bucks you truly cannot beat these. We are super happy with our purchase and would highly recommend this set.

Really good knives for the price
I received my Chef Essentials 7 piece knife set promptly, in excellent condition, as described and packaged very nicely. So far I am impressed. They seem to be well constructed. No loose handles etc. And in my opinion they look extremely cool. For the price point these seem to be really good knives. They absolutely blow away my previous "cheap" set. I've only had them a clue of weeks now, so I can't speak to their longevity, but I have used them everyday cutting a wide variety of items and I am very happy with their performance. They feel good in the hand. These are not the high end, high quality knives like Henkels, but then I didn't want to spend the $200 it would take to get those. Again, these knives appear to be very good quality and value for the price. So far they seem to hold an edge well. I'm sure they will require more frequent sharpening, but I would expect that. I also lime the types of knives o the set. They cover all of my cutting needs. The only thing I have found to be somewhat disappointing is the knife holder. This set looks really cool and modern on my counter top, but as the knives sit in the holder straight up and down, I've found I can't just pull a knife out while it sits under the upper cabinets. I have to pull the holder out onto the counter top. And as the holder doesn't have the weight of a wooden block it some times requires 2 hands to hold the holder while pulling the knife out. This is not a deal breaker for me, just not as convenient as a typical angled wooden block. Overall I am extremely satisfied with this purchase.
