is this recommended to use for painting blacklight backdrops?  As in permanently glowing under UV light?

Hi Gorgar, you could definitely use our glow pigments in a paint to accomplish that effect. If it is going to permanently be under black light though, a fluorescent paint would probably accomplish the same goal for less money. If there is ever a time that the black light will be turned off but you still want the backdrop to glow, then our pigment is the way to go. Hope that helps!

How many grams per ounce of clear liquid resin to get a nice colored glow? how many hours "charge" for @ least 8 hours glow? will sun charge it?

If I'm using resin I usually mix by volume and use a ratio of 1 part powder to 4 parts resin.  So for one fluid ounce of resin, I would mix in .25 fluid ounces of powder.  You could also apply the same ratio by weight and get a similar result if that is more convenient.  All of my powders are fully charged in 5 to 10 minutes if placed in the sun to charge.  No need to leave them charging for hours.  Not all the colors will last 8 hours but in general the neutral colors last longer and glow brighter than the fluorescent colors.  For example neutral green, sky blue, and aqua will all glow for more than 8 hours after a full charge.

Do you need a UV light?

It will glow best when charged with the sun or an ultraviolet light.  Certain household lights will not do a very good job of charging the powders.  Also aqua and dark blue require a really good light source to get a full charge and glow to their full potential!  The included LED light will charge them a bit, but you really need to use the sun or a high powered black light for the best results.

Question 4

What do I mix the powder with other than resin? Resin is too pricey

You can mix it with any medium that dries clear or semi-clear—clear school glue, nail polish, Mod Podge....it depends what project you’re working on. I added the powders to slime I made with kids. (I used a whole container—12 grams—for each batch of slime.) Each finished batch was kind of a milky white, with maybe a faint hint of color. But after putting a container in direct sunlight for 15 minutes, the slime glowed like crazy in the dark. Kids were very pleased!
