The switch comes on when pressure is low and shuts off when pressure increases. Hope this helps.

Short answer. Yes. Cut on PSI is pre set at 40psi and shut off psi pressure is set at 60psi.

Q: Since the pressure is adjustable, why are there different pressure models like 20-40, 30-50...?

some pumps produce higher pressures and operate at a higher pressure. My shallow well with a 1 hp lawn pump runs great at the lower pressures. I used the 20 -40 psi. My pump comes on around 23 psi and shuts off at 33 psi which is perfect for my 12 large sprinklers per station.
