When Fast huns Aren’t Fast Enough for 4K Editing
Bought this Satechi hub thinking it would elevate my workflow. Instead, it gently reminded me that expensive doesn’t always mean fast. Sure, file transfers seem okay - if I’m just moving PDFs. But open up Premiere Pro with some real 4K 10-bit footage? Instant slideshow. Plugged my SSD directly into my Mac? Smooth like butter. Through this 5Gbps “high-speed” adapter? Choppy, stuttering, borderline unwatchable. It’s like the hub needs to take a deep breath before loading each frame.

I use this to transfer data between 4 16 TB RAID 5 drives, on both Mac OS X and Windows 10 computers. No connectivity problems with either OS X or Win10. Great not to have to use USB A-USB C adaptors, as with other USB hubs. The product was so useful, I bought four of them! Note, this hub is not for charging or video signals, just data. Edit: this works so well and is so useful that I have npw bought six of them!
