IMAX 89412 Alidade Telescope Compass

Bought this as a year-end teacher gift for my daughter's astronomy teacher. She thought a telescope for his desk would be nice. We like the look and design of this one the most when we did a quick on-line search. The product we received looks nice but not as nice as the online images. The wooden base is well made and without any damage. The silver looks a little cloudy and there is some pitting/rust on the silver on the level.

I highly recommend you NOT but this item. It came banged up and the silver finish is scrapped off in areas. It’s cheaply made and it took over TWO MONTHS to receive. It’s not even work $10, Nevermind the $35 i spent! Let my mistake be your saving grace.

Wanted something for the table in stainless or chrome. This one was perfect. After unboxing I realized the scope extends and the compass works after you press the release button.

Came as expected. It looks better in person! Great for a desk, or shelf décor. This is intended to be a replica, not an actual working device, although some pieces (compass, level, lenses) do "work".
