I can now use remote desktop software
I have two desktops at home and was using a KVM to switch between, but I miss using my remote desktop software Splashtop Desktop. The issue was since I didn't have a dedicated monitor for 2nd pc I would get black screens or randomly no response. So researching this is considered a headless setup and therefore this adapter. So I plugged it in and sure enough, it works as described. It supports 1920x1080 on hdmi which is fine with me. So now I can continue to use Splashtop and also have my KVM when I need to flip over and control the PC directly. Very inexpensive option that worked plug and play. Highly recommend!

Helps keep computer available for remote display
I have a laptop that I use as a server, and I keep the screen closed while I remote into it. However, if I leave the laptop on for more than a few hours then it won't send a display signal over the remote connection.Just plug in this HDMI plug and I can remote into it whenever I want. Works great

If your looking for these then you have found the right ones:)
This item is truly plug and play. After initial setup of your OS then one only needs to install a service like teamviewer to access the computer. These work awesome if your building rigs for crypto currency mining. It beats the heck out of trying to short a couple pins together on a make shift adapter to trick the system into thinking it has a monitor. If you need a headless system and want to run the latest gpu this is a must have. They also lend you the ability to change what resolution you want to view the computer in remotely. Back when i used the old trick of shorting a plug it never let me swap resolution. Was stuck at something aweful like 640x480. Ive bought over 7 now and the first 5 have been running over a year without any issues whatsoever. Best Regards

Pretty Darn Close to Perfect...With a Hack
2/25 Update:Simple Hack - Taking a knife, and shaving one side of the the dongle allows you to use both thunderbolt ports on a Mac Mini. Updating to 4 stars for functionality. This would get 5 stars if it allowed for scaling resolution, but you are limited to a 16:9 aspect ratio and 720 and 1080 resolutions, which limits usefulness for screen sharing to a degree. This fits the bill for activating the gpu in a Mac Mini when used as a headless server, however if your plan is to use it with a current generation (ie late 2014 - early 2015 model) be aware that the shape of this dongle potentially blocks access to the left thunderbolt port (depending on the shape of your thunderbolt cable's tip). The standard Apple short thunderbolt cable cannot be plugged into the left port when this is plugged in.

Perfect for booting a mini-PC as a headless server!
I am in the process of setting up a Gigabyte GB-BXBT-2807 mini-PC as a headless server. I learned the hard way that for this computer to boot at all, a monitor must be connected to the HDMI or VGA port, and an HDMI monitor must be at least a 1080p resolution! I even tried temporarily plugging in my older 1400x900 monitor just to get the computer to start, and it still wouldn't work. This was unacceptable for using the computer as a headless server. I learned about this fit-Headless adapter while looking for possible solutions to allow my mini-PC to boot headless, so I ordered one to see how well it would work out.The fit-Headless adapter has worked flawlessly for getting my computer to start! I am able to remotely reboot this computer and ensure that it is still operational, and remotely shut down the computer so that it turns off completely, without causing it to reboot or freeze. This adapter is highly recommended for setting up a computer as a headless server whenever a monitor must be connected.

Easy Peasy!
I recently purchased an ASUS Chromebox to run Plex. My home setup originally comprised a work-related Windows laptop, connected via a DisplayLink docking station (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00GQQO8FA/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1) to 2 monitors, a mouse, a keyboard and a Jabra headset (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003YJ2WBY/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1) to support Skype calling for work. The dock was directly connected to my LAN using an ethernet cable. While purchasing the Chromebox my initial thought was to use a Plugable sharing switch (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JX3Q28Y/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1), however, there were complications using this. The first issue was getting DisplayLink adapters to work with the OS I installed on the Chromebox. The second was that my Jabra device was useless when connected to the Chromebox since it needed a Skype installation on my work laptop. The third was that for the minuscule timeframe that I would switch out the connection from my work laptop, it would drop the connection, at least the first time.So my alternative was to use VNC to connect to the Chromebox. I was using X11VNC, and while this works fine if there is a monitor connected to the Chromebox, the lack of a monitor causes the resolution to get hammered.A little Googling brought me to this product, and I decided to take a chance on it, given the low cost. Upon arrival, the unpacking was easy enough, and it took me a total of 1 minute to shutdown my Chromebox, plug this in, start up the machine and connect to it using VNC. All resolution issues magically disappeared once I rebooted!Very few products have been so effortlessly effective within a minute of unpacking! I highly recommend this item.

Cheaply built, but works
Got this to run my plex server headless. Works as advertised. Made cheap, but I just plugged it in once, and can get my full resolution while logged in remotely.
