I didn't remove the old one as the instructions said, so I was glad to fine a replacement element, and not have to buy the whole thing.

It has been over one month since I installed this. If you install this element make sure when it is activated it has a constant supply of water or it will melt within thirty days. If you are on self contained water and are using this, make sure your water pump is on until you disconnect the element otherwise the element will fail for lack of water! The element must always be submerged in water while in use.
