Ear Wax Curettes plus Third Generation Dr Mom Slimline Stainless LED Pocket Otoscope in HARD Travel CASE

I am absolutely thrilled with this purchase. I am now able to check my children's ears at home so that I can determine whether or not they need to see the dr. This is by no means a replacement for obtaining a qualified medical opinion on your child's health and does not make you qualified to do so. However, it helps when you have a fussy toddler to check for redness. If there is no visible redness then I wait it out for a few days and monitor their symptoms. If I see signs of redness that are slight, I wait one day to see if it gets worse. If it does become more noticeable the second day or if there is very noticeable redness the first time I look, then I take them to the dr. I have found that when there is only a light redness, the dr will tell me it may only be irritation and they will wait to prescribe antibiotics. That is why I make sure it is noticeably red before I take them to the dr. This product has definitely saved us money in co-pays! I thought the price was reasonable and I am very satisfied with the quality and the materials that were sent with the product. There are different sized tips for different aged people and there are cleaning tips as well. Do be sure to read all of the product packaging and inserts so that you see which tips to use for which aged children. Reading this information can also help to keep you from accidentally hurting your child's eardrums. You also should not use the cleaning tips on small children due to the risk on injury, so please please please read through the directions first! All in all this has been very helpful in our household for a child with chronic ear infections.

I LOVE this otoscope. I've only had it for a week and already it's my new favorite toy. I've used it on my husband and my 19 month old daughter. There are three different sizes and the smallest one is perfect for my petite little girl and the biggest is perfect for adults. I debated getting the most updated expensive one but wanted the curettes it comes with also and I'm glad I chose this one because it's exactly what I need. There isn't anything wrong the picture. It's enough to see if there is anything serious (where you may need a doc), enough to see if there's an infection, and enough to see wax buildup. Like I said, I have only had the product for one week so if anything changes I will definitely update. This comes with batteries and they are not the best kind of batteries so have on hand the right kind just in case. The case it comes in is really flimsy and if amazon allowed .5 stars I would give this product a 4.5 solely for the case. The case is extremely flimsy and broke when I opened it. The curettes are hard to clean after collecting wax so I'd advise people to run under boiling water to disinfect to make sure nothing gets stuck. The assembly of the actual otoscope is quite simple to put together and understand. It seems sturdy enough to keep for a few years and although the part you look through is plastic, if you take good care of it, which I plan to, I'm sure it would stay fine. The plastic is so clear that I thought it was glass at first! All in all I'm super happy with my purchase. It's a great deal for a small family like mine and works just fine to see what you are looking for!

Kiddo with frequent ear infections and waiting for tube placement... This has been a life saver in making sure we are able to monitor for infections more closely and get into the doctor as quick as possible. It is easy to put together, and the pen light design is simple and effective. Easy to take with us due to smaller design. Multiple sizes is helpful to monitor the entire family as needed. Images give us a better idea of what to look for, but we definitely trust the professionals opinion.

I started with those $5-$15 plastic units also available on Amazon; which proved to be too cheap and flimsy to be anything more than marginally useful. I had to pay more to get this unit and it's significantly more functional than the other units. This device has a metal housing run off 2 AAA batteries and comes with 3 sizes of otoscope tips which magnify and spot light the illumination into the ear. This works effortlessly and perfectly as an otoscope. Finally we could easily see the tubes the doctor inserted into our daughters ear, note when the inner ear seems to be "inflamed" with potential infection, and if they have significant blockage due to buildup. The device also comes with two clear tips which allow the light to glow through them (like the picture). The Tips are adult sized scoop and loop. I would have preferred that the loop have an angled tip, like at the doctors office or like the asian ear picks as the angle is essential. Even so, the sturdiness of the unit, the lighting, and the function work well. The biggest problem is the price is an investment that most people probably are not willing to make just for ear care.

Before ordering this product, I was debating between the third generation versus the fourth generation and after thinking it through, I chose this one mainly due to the ear curette featureset. I have no regrets after receiving this product. I ordered the product for the use of earwax extraction to increase my family's hearing as well as long term usage and this product did not disappoint us. The lighted ear curette was a great way to effectively navigate through the ear canal to the sight of the ear drum (may require some flexible scope angling to get a good view). In my opinion, the lighted ear curette is a great tool to avoid holding a flashlight as well as a ear wax removal tool. I've seen various doctors and they all utilize the same type of approach of solely using a ear scope with light and then attempting to pry or flush the ear wax out afterwards while relying on their eyesight and memory. This lighted ear curette featureset effectively increases the ear wax removal capability. Thanks for a great product!
