Whink 20223 RUSTGuard Time Released Bowl Cleaner, 4 oz

I tried one and it cleaned the bottom of my tank but not the top. So I cleaned the top manually with some acid based manual cleaner and brush. After a month rust started coming back in the entire tank. So I did the acid and brush wash again and then put another of these tablets in. A month later and this tablet has dissolved and there is no rust in the entire tank. So I will keep using these to see if I no longer have to buy rust spray and washing manually ever again. These tablets turn into a semi gel in the tank and slowly dissolves.

A one of a kind product which does what it says. You won't need a sandstone. Have used these for a decade because they neutralize the iron and minerals in the water in the tank before the water is delivered into the toilet bowl. Be aware each 'pellet' is solid and apx. 2" x 1.5"; a few orders have arrived with cracked pellets, from various dealers, because they were not in sufficient protective delivery packaging. The manufacturer seals them tight but the issue is the light wt. bubble shipping bag. If you have well water you need these.

We have well water with a high iron content. My wife has tried several products to no avail. I bought a pack of these. At first it changed the water to a purple color.(i didn't clean the tank as directed first). That lasted a few weeks. My wife was not happy. Then the water turned clear and all the iron stains etc. disappeared. I'm now a hero !! It states it lasts a few weeks, but we're on our second month and the toilet is still super clean and I can still see some of the product in the tank. Great stuff.

I last purchased these in January of 2015 and paid $7.00. I think these do a good job of keeping rust stains in check and probably do a better job of eliminating them altogether if you catch them early. I did have a bad experience using these in one of my toilet tanks and that's the reason for my three star rating. The toilet in question had a Fluidmaster 400CR Toilet Fill Valve and Flapper Repair Kit fill valve. Shortly after placing this Whink Rust Guard in this particular tank the valve started to malfunction. I suspect that "flotsam and jetsam" from this tablet dissolving got kicked up in the tank and some of this entered the valve and caused the problems. What happened is the tank began refilling very, very slowly. It would take a good hour for the tank to refill for the next flush and I ended up having to replace the valve altogether. In all fairness it could be a coincidence. It's just I've never had something like this happen before and the fact that it presented itself within two days of adding a Whink tablet to the tank leads me to this conclusion.

I figured I'd give these a while before I reviewed them. We have well water and our softener just died, but we are supposed to be hooking up to city water soon... so I didn't want to waste money fixing/replacing it... BUT the calcium, rust, & lime stains are killing me!! My toilet & sinksturn orange every day if I dont clean them with CLR w Bleach. So one morning I cleaned my toilet including the tank & put a big bleach tablet in the tank. Then these arrived that afternoon. The instructions said not to mix with any cleaners but since it claims to be pet safe, I took a chance & threw one in the tank. My toilet stayed clean for about a month before i started seeing orange return. After that I just threw in a new tablet without the bleach and saw an orange tinge return. So I threw another bleach tablet in with it after cleaning out the toilet and for the passed few weeks it's been clean! So... I'm going to continue to use both tablets until my city water is hooked up... OMG I CAN'T WAIT! LOL So... if u have hard well water... get these!! You wont regret it! If it's very hard water, use a bleach tablet with it. I had no bad effects from using both at the same time.

I purchased 2 packages of these from Amazon after buying them in a local store and having them work almost magically well. The apartment I rent has water that is so hard it turns everything brown, and has rusted out every single component on the inside of the toilet tank at least twice. It's the worst I've ever seen. The package from the store actually dissolved these deposits, and resulted in an effortless reduction of rust. I was so excited! Then I received these, which are the same brand, identical tablets, no difference. And they did absolutely nothing. Gummed up the tank without any noticeable difference at all. I actually tried a second one hoping that the first was a fluke. Neither worked. I'm very, very disappointed and don't recommend ordering these. I suppose both packages could have been duds, but it wouldn't be worth it for me to reorder and try again.

This item works great. Cleans the tank an also helps clean the streaks of rust running down the inside of the bowl.
