Love at first sight. Needs good wind screen
What makes this grill so awesome is that if fits on a 32" dutch oven table with plenty of room for a dutch oven next to it.I recently got back from a car camping trip, and it was awesome. it can be used as is, or you can place foil on top for a slower grill, or place a griddle on top for eggs and bacon and pancakes. Or you can wrap ribs in foil, place on this grill, and then wrap heavy duty foil over the entire dutch oven table to create a more oven like ambient heat environment. Great job Steve Raichlen. Awesome grill.---Everywhere I go when grilling, wind is a problem. So, for this unit, if you have the same issues I do, make sure you get a windscreen. The duo green 11" windscreen is good and portable, but my new favorite is the 12" wind screen on my dutch oven table.Assuming you have that piece taken care of, the Steven Raichlen Tuscan grill rocks. Seriously rocks. It's awesome that it's cast iron, and instead of a rounded or flat grill bar design, this uses a triangular tube design, much like a Toblerone chocolate. That makes some beautiful grill marks on pork cutlets and steaks. Wish all grills were designed this way.The grill size at 14" x 14" is fantastic because it's just portable enough for car camping, and large enough to put a decent amount of meat to feed 4 at a time. Really a perfect size for portability and usability. The leg height is just right too. Since you never know if you'll be on a small campfire or a dutch oven table, the short legs means that small wood fires and briquette coals both work well. That is a huge plus.A lot of reviews mention that the screw treads get damaged really easily, and I'm really happy to have read those reviews. tight screws aren't important for this grill, so just tighten them enough to keep the legs from wobbling to make sure the treads don't get damaged and that's good enough. Hope by being gentler with the treads, I won't have the same issues others have had. But one reviewer did note that the screws were removable and replaceable, so keep that in mind.Used this three times already after spending two days "seasoning" the grill. I know there is a right way to season it, and read about how that's done, but my lazy method worked and I can't tell the difference from my other pre-seasoned cast iron equipment, plus the food tasted fine with no metallic after-taste, so my method seems good enough. In case anyone is interested, I just sprayed pam on it all over, brushed it in as best I could, put some coals underneath, and after it dried, sprayed again, brushed it down and put it back above the coals. Repeated this twice more and it looked fine to me. every time I use it, I spray it down again, and now it looks like a well seasoned cast iron grill. Don't shoot me....I'm just too lazy to use the oven.I'd been looking at the TexSport cast iron grill for a long tim, and what held me back was the thinner wiring of the TexSport grill surface, so finding this Tuscan grill, which seems to be everywhere, really made my day.If you like charcoal grilling, and want something portable, but still want cast iron, this is a pretty good way to go. Add a good dutch oven table and it's grill heaven.Hope this helps and happy grilling!

Superb quality, so glad I bought this!
The media could not be loaded. This is great! I got this to use in my indoor fireplace to cook Turkey burgers & stuff throughout the winter months. I also plan to make it part of our camping gear in the spring, summer, and early fall months. I thought it seemed a little pricey at first, but the great reviews convinced me to spend more than I wanted. The quality is fantastic & I no longer find it pricey because it’s solid & heavy(compared to other Fireplace/pit grills) and will probably last me forever! The cheaper grills will not last like this will. The cheaper ones, based by reading reviews, bends/ripples( not exactly sure on the correct choice of words but the shape changes, I know what I mean lol) after heated, have paint on them that would be toxic to actually cook on without a pan in between. People said they let the fire burn the paint off before cooking with their food right on it, one review talked about how their family felt sick after from the chemicals, but they could’ve also had bad food? Either way, I’d prefer this cast iron beast with no paint that’s made for putting your food right in it! Spend the extra $20-$25 and buy this, it’s so worth it!!! Remember, you get what you pay for! This doesn’t have paint on it and nothing changes once it’s hot and used, stays just how it is, and it will last forever!!! Amazing product!

Gives me wood fired pizzas!!!!!!!!!!!! Read how-
Pronto! That is how folks answer the telephone in Italy-it is like saying hello. I would give the Steven Raichlen Cast Iron Tuscan Grill 5 stars but I am a vegetarian and so I found the packaging offensive and also was quite saddened when I realized the included high quality grill remover had a strip of rawhide tied on it. OTHERWISE THIS PRODUCT IS GREAT. I use my Steven Raichlen Cast Iron Tuscan Grill with my firepit for wood fired cooking as I like wood fired pizzas and wood smoked veggie sausage (tastes JUST LIKE MEAT.) I use it as a burner since I do not want food to get in my fire pit. You can use a pie iron on it (for veggie sausage, veggie bacon etc.) BUT KNOW IT IS AMAZING with paired with the Pizzeria Pronto Stovetop Pizza Oven over a firepit. BEST PIZZA I HAVE EVER HAD and I have eaten pizza in Italy, New York and even while chatting with Wolfgang Puck in Spago. I developed a method for using the Pizzeria Pronto Stovetop Pizza Oven with a fire pit safely for perfect wood fired pizzas. It requires some modifications and a Steven Raichlen Cast Iron Tuscan Grill, a 12 inch or less pizza peel and some fireproof bricks, grill gloves, two people, a welding blanket and a fire extinguisher (always have a welding blanket and fire extinguisher on hand when using a fire pit and never leave it unattended-be especially careful if drinking.) REMEMBER BE SAFE AND CAREFUL. THIS REQUIRES AT LEAST TWO PEOPLE. When assembling the Pizzeria Pronto Stovetop Pizza oven (DO NOT BUY THE OUTDOOR ONE AS YOU CAN NOT MAKE A WOOD FIRED PIZZA WITH IT.) DO NOT ATTACH THE SILICON HANDLE TO THE Pizzeria Pronto Stovetop PIZZA OVEN AS THIS MAY MELT WHEN USED OVER A FIREPIT since it was designed for use over a gas oven originally. USE GRILL GLOVES THAT CAN WITHSTAND HIGH HEAT TO HANDLE PIZZA OVEN. BUY A STEVEN RAICHLEN TUSCAN GRILL AND USE THIS AS A BURNER OVER YOUR FIREPIT. You place the Pizzeria Pronto on top of this. Be ethical. Eat vegetarian. Use wood from shrubs and trees in your own yard that you trimmed yourself. Have a fire extinguisher and welding blanket on hand (it will instantly put out a cooking fire when finished using firepit). Never leave the pizza oven or open fire unattended. Have a wind screen to keep flames down. You can make one by using firepit bricks. To elevate my Steven Raichlen Tuscan grill my spouse and I placed bricks in the bottom of out firepit, then placed the legs of our Tuscan Grill over it that so that it is perfect height to place the pizza oven. We DID NOT tie the safety cable of the Pizzeria Pronto stovetop pizza oven to our Tuscan Grill since we needed to easily get the pizza oven off of the open fire after the pizza was cooked and on the plate so the pizza stone did not over heat. Instead we used a two person system, both wearing gloves to withstand heat, in case the pizza oven shifted while using the pizza peel. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO ROTATE THE PIZZA WHEN COOKING IT OVER A FIRE PIT. IT COMES OUT PERFECT! After pizza is cooked using grill gloves lift empty pizza oven off the fire and place on top of fireproof bricks that are placed in the yard so it can cool. Let the embers of the fire cool until the next day. Then sift the ashes as you will have home made charcoal left over from making the fire. Seal this charcoal in a plastic bag and recycle to use as your coals the next time you cook pizza for a VERY QUICK preheat. You place the home made charcoal at the bottom of the firepit then add your sticks on top. It takes around 20 minutes at 500 degrees cooking a pizza over a firepit. Before we made our first outdoor wood fired pizza we practiced and 'pretended' to make a pizza with our fire pit, Steven Raichlen Tuscan Grill and Pizzeria Pronto Stovetop Pizza Oven without the fire so we could see where we needed to place plates, stand, help one another etcetera. I look forward to putting some Chef Man Vegetarian Shwarma in a pie iron smoked on my Steven Raichlen Grill. By Julie Sands
