Fun Making My Own Ice Cream
For my first trial, I used one of the recipes in the instruction booklet. It called for 200 milliliters of skim milk and 100 milliliters of heavy cream. First, I had to find a measuring cup that could tell me the milliliters. Fortunately, I did have one, but I didn't have any heavy cream.Undeterred, I decided this would be ice milk rather than ice cream since I didn't want to wait for a shopping trip. My mom used to buy ice milk back in the 1960s. I'm guessing it was cheaper, but also lower in calories. The recipe called for a ripe banana, mashed until smooth. I had that and decided to expand on the recipe by adding chopped-up bits of a chocolate bar. I'd had the freezer bowl in the freezer for several days so it was ready.I started the paddles going and then poured in the milk mixture. It is preset for 20 minutes, though by 19 minutes, it was laboring to turn and making a few clunking sounds. I unplugged it then as those sounds meant the concoction was adequately frozen. I scooped out the ice milk and put it in the pint container that came with the set. It could have been eaten at that point, but I decided to give it additional hardening time in the freezer section of my fridge. The clean-up was fairly quick as I just rinsed or wiped down the various parts. You can't put the part with the motor in water, so just wipe the spout where you pour in the mixture and also any drips on the sides. This makes a good-sized bowl of ice cream for 2 people or 3 or 4 tiny servings if you want to use it as topping for an apple pie or a brownie. It's not a real quiet machine but it did a good job of freezing the dessert. My next batch is going to be frozen yogurt. You have to plan ahead so you freeze the bowl for 48 hours and it does take up space in your freezer. It's going to be fun trying out different recipes. There are 6 recipes included in the booklet, but you can switch out ingredients to suit your cravings.

Great!
I got this for my 12 year old who likes to cook and she had no trouble getting it set up and making ice cream with it. It has clear, easy to follow directions for set up and recipes that are good too. It is small, but comes with everything you need to make about a pint of ice cream per recipe. It's also very easy to clean up when you're done and it's not too large, so it's easy to store as well. It makes very creamy, smooth ice cream.

Made in China. OK for "creamy" ice cream.
I’ve used a Cuisinart ice cream maker in the past, which I really liked. This one is a little bit similar, in that you freeze the “bucket” first before using. There are two things which make this one not as nice as Cuisinart. . .#1, The paddle is not strong enough. #2, The motor is not strong enough. If you like your ice “creamy” and not that firm. . . Then this one might work for you. Even the Cuisinart will not make it “hard”, but it will be firmer than this one. . .plus. . . you don’t have an “issue” with adding “extras” like fruit, nuts and so on.This ice cream maker is Made in China and being sold by a Chinese company on Amazon. At the current price of 80 bucks. . . it’s at least twice the price it should be. Yes, Cuisinart is higher in price, but it’s better overall.

Good
This is a good ice cream maker. It makes delicious creamy ice cream. Setting it up and using it was easy. I had no issues with cleaning it after use. This was my first time using an ice cream maker and I liked it. I am sure there are better ones on the market but this one does the job.

Small Batch Machine
This compact machine is good for small batches. The bowl must be frozen for at least eight hours. The machine is simple to use. It is not super powerful but performs adequately. The ice cream does benefit from a visit to the freezer. The soft serve is soft and I prefer it firmer. I have been experimenting with keto ice cream and have been satisfied with the taste and texture. Clean up is easy. Nice, small unit.

EPIC FAIL ~~ VERY LOUD MOTOR & DIDN'T FREEZE ICE CREAM MIXTURE AT ALL
DIDN'T BOTHER WITH PHOTOS BECAUSE I RETURNED THIS ITEM. IT WAS A TOTAL BUST.I noticed that there are reviews for the silver and black version of this Chinese-made ice cream maker, but not yet for this red and silver version. They are identical other than the color, so I'm perplexed that anyone got this maker to work. I've been using ice cream makers since my parents had a hand crank version, and have progressed to the kind requiring the addition of water, salt and ice cubes to current use of electric versions. It's not rocket science. I know how to make the mixture of my favorite flavors, read the manuals before use, and follow the directions. This maker is bit different. The bowl has to be put inside a plastic bag before pre-freezing for at least 8 hours. I used a bag and pre-froze for 24 hours just to be safe. My ice cream mixture was perfection. I set the timer and turned on the machine (this is essential) prior to pouring the mixture into the bowl through the pour chute because the mixing blade needs to be turning as the mixture is poured. It should have taken only 20 minutes for ice milk. But after 40 MINUTES, the mixture was still the same liquid that I poured into the bowl. A little bit of frozen condensation appeared along the bottom of the exterior of the ice cream maker, but not all the way up. I couldn't believe it. The bowl felt ice cold, so what happened? I've NEVER had an ice cream maker that was a dud. My previous one was a lightweight Oster that required added ice-water-salt, and the mixture starting freezing right away. It was perfection.I could have lived with the fact that this had obviously been a returned item to Amazon. There were slight exterior scratches (also on the mixing blade) and a chip out of the pour chute. But, I'll wager it was a return because it didn't work for them either. I didn't even want a replacement. Once was enough. Unlike my previous model which was easy to clean because the motor was in the base and the washable parts were all submersible in water, this model is not like that. You'll wait a long time for the mixing bowl to resume room temp before you can even wash it and reassemble for storage. And the bowl cannot be immersed in water which makes it tricky to clean the inside thoroughly without any water spilling n the outside. It was too labor intensive with zero pay-off. I wasted all those ice cream ingredients for nothing, and the entire afternoon by the time I assembled it, read the manual, made the ice cream, dumped it out, cleaned up the mess, and repackaged the maker for return to Amazon.I think the fact the paddle is shorter than normal (it stops a few inches short of the bottom of the mixing bowl) contributes to the problem. It just looks too small to do the job. The motor doesn't seem to be adequate either, even for a simple vanilla ice milk mixture. If a 24 hour pre-freeze of the bowl isn't enough to set an ice milk mixture in 40 minutes, there's no hope. And don't even get me started on the loud buzzing hum and the "chicketa-chicketa-chicketa" noise it made for 40 solid minutes. Wow. I couldn't even hear my TV over it.After my experience, this is not a reliable machine or worth the money and cleanup was a nightmare. For all of you who had success with it, it truly is a miracle. I'm sticking with American companies for my next ice cream maker.
